R. Johns read out the final results from all polling places and each candidate for office was given an opportunity to speak. Deputy-Reeve Allan Crosier who was, returned by acclama- tion on Nomination Day, con- gratulated Reeve Sam Oyler on his success and stated there are quite a few problems com- ing up in the new year. Mr. Crosier said he would like to see the problem of the township's assessment cleaned up and the municipality's in- terest protected. The ubject of possible future sub-divisions- opening up in the area will call for special agree- - ments, Mr. Crosier expressed his regrets to the defeated can- didates, stating tha former Reeve Martyn will certainly be missed at Council. Mr. Morley Bruce, who de- clined as Councillor also spoke briefly. Councillors Doble and Geer algo congratulated the new Reeve and welcomed Mrs. Lu- cille Gray as the third council member, Following the brief speeches, traditional cigars and candy bars were handed out by Coun- cillors. This custom has been followed for many years and as one ratepayer remarked "It wouldn't seem like election night without cigars and choco- late bars." At the door the bride and groom were presented with a corsage and boutonniers of baby mums. After a time of visiting and cards, the gathering was called to ordér, Penny Venning, Ricky and.Cheryl Rahm presented the couple with a money tree and cards containing other gifts of money. A few words of thanks were given by the honoured couple, and then they cut their wedding cake which was orn- amented with silver. Everyone joined in singing 'For They Are Jolly Good Fellows' and then lunch was served. Guests were from Toronto, Oshawa, Bow- manville, Stouffville, Bobcay- geon, Port Perry and surround- ing districts.
