Trustee Dorothy Mulholland, on behalf of other members of the Board, expressed thanks to Mr. Holtby for the work he had done as Chairman over the past two years, and the Chairman- ship was then turned over to Mr. Stone: Plans for the coming year were discussed, and it was de- cided to take advantage of the travelling Book Library offer- ed by the Department of Edu- cation for all three Central Schools in Reach Township. Conducted At First Meeting The Inaugural Meeting of Reach Township Council for 1965 was held in the Municipal Office at Manchester, on Mon- day, January 4th, at eleven a.m. Declarations of office and the oath of allegiance were taken by each of the following: Reeve Edward (Sam) Oyler; Deputy: Reeve Allan Crosier; Council- lors Lucille Gray; Chester Geer and Larry Doble. Rev. E., McNeill of Seagrave United Church read part of the Revelations of St. John the Di- vine and went on-to speak of women's part in civic affairs. He congratulated Mrs. Lucille Gray for being the first lady Councillor to ever hold office in the Township of Reach (Continued on page 11) 3- Way Contest For Cty Warden Reeve Francis Hockley of Scott Township has indicated that he will be a third candidate for the election of Warden of Ontario County. Previously reeve J. J. Gibson of Port Perry and reeve W, F., Gould of Uxbridge have declar- ed that they are candidates for the highest office in the Coun- ty. To guess on the outcome of the election which is held on Tuesday, January 19th would be difficult, but in Mr. Gibson's favour is the fact he has been attending County council for more years than the other two candidates combined. 98 Years Old Mrs. Job Graham quietly celebrated her 98th birthday at her home, 211 Scugog St. on Dec. 28th. Buntain, Minister of St. John's Presbyterian Church in Port Perry attended the official opening of the Christian Education Centre of St. Andrew's-Chalmers Presby- terian Church in Uxbridge on Sunday. ' In his capacity of Moderator for Lindsay Presbytery, Rev. Buntain was given the honour of conducting the opening of the Centre.
