Saunilers, Mrs. A. Parrinder and Mrs. H. Dennis, of the 'Reliable Unit, presented a candlelighting worship ser- vice entitled, "Candles of the Lord". During the worship Mrs. Wm: Reid sang the carol, "There's a'Song in the Air" Mrs. W. Routley, of the Sun- shine Unit, introduced the guest soloist and the guest speaker of the evening. Mrs. E. Heron, Ashburn, sang the Christmas Song, "Mary Had a Baby". Mrs, R. Batten, Ashburn, the guest speaker delivered a most inspiring Christmas message entitled, "Mary--The Mother of Jesus", The guests were thanked on behalf of the U.C.W- by Mrs. A. Wilson. Mrs. G. Mrs. G. Mundy gave an in- teresting talk on Nativity Scenes painted by famous art- ists. Mrs. John Medland showed coloured slides taken while on a trip to Newfoundland. McKinney showed coloured slides on Trinidad, one of the countries concerned in the mission study. Friendship unit was welcomed to the home of Mrs. A. Stocks, Mrs. R- Humphreys, Mrs. G. Burlison and Mys. Stocks were the committee in charge. They presented a Christmas worship and told of different Christmas customs and their origins. 'Reliable Unit--Mrs. R. Saun- ders welcomed the members to her home. Mrs. Saunders, Mrs. A. Parrinder and Mrs. H. Den- nis presented the worship, Candles of the Lord. Then the members enjoyed a Fun Night. Faithful Workers -- Mrs. L. Arksey was hostess to the members of her unit. Mrs. H. Arksey and Mrs. R. Ingleton presented a Christmas program- The members enjoyed singing many carols to the accompani- ISTRICT ment of the organ played by Mr. L. Arksey. Mrs, R. Hunter gave a hum- orous reading. Sunshine Unit met at the home of Mrs. L. Nolan. Mrs. 'G. Moreau and Mrs: R. Fowler led in an Advent candlelighting service. Mrs. R. Holman led in a dis- cussion on chapter 2 of the Study Book, God and His Pur- pose. The Couples Club .of Brook- lin United Church held their annual Christmas Pot Luck Sup- per in the Christian Education Centre, recently. Following the supper Marilyn Jackson, Betty and Ray Holman led in a candlelighting and carol worship service, Mrs. G. Mundy introduced the guest speaker Mrs. Ross Stev- ens, Bowmanville, Mrs. Stevens spoke on the trip she and her husband took last Christmas, to the Congo, to visit their daugh- ter, Muriel, a missionary there. Mrs. Stevens illustrated her talk with many very interesting coloured slides. A letter from Song Soén Hi, the Korean child supported by the Club.
