Druen passed away quietly on Wed. morning, Jan. 13th. The fun- eral was from the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Fri- day morning. Mr. and Mrs. Druen have: lived down by the lake many, many years. We extend sympathy to her hus- band. "The U.C.W. meeting on Wed. evening was in charge of the executive with vice-pres. Mrs. McNeil in the chair. The topic given by Mrs. B. Wanamaker was in keeping with New Year's and stressed the fact that "Time" was a gift which should be well used. Mrs. Eagleson re- viewed a chapter of the study book on Brazil. Mrs. Chas. Short and Mrs. Ken Short sang a duet. Others taking part were Mrs. G. Stone and Mrs. McNeil. 'With the president Mrs, Cliff Short presiding routine business for the month was conducted amd 1965 joining fees paid, "Reports for 1964 were re- ceived. These are too lengthy to record in full here so a few items will have to suffice. The Secretary reported good atten- dance figures. There were 36 paid members, 7 of whom. at- tended all meetings. According to the treasurer's report, receipts from various projects and collections amount- ed to $1978. The board of stewards received $800., the or- ganist and caretaker were paid, the allocation met, a Formosan girl supported, donations made to Port Perry hospital and Care and new tea towels bought. There is still $108 in the treas- ury. The corresponding secretary sent 20 sympathy cards and the fruit-box committee made up 19 sick boxes and 21 Christmas boxes for the sick and shut-ins. Théy also sent 5 plants and some cards, Supply committee despatched 6 large quilts, 9 crib quilts, 3 layettes and 508 Ibs. of -used clothing to Fred Victor Mission, 50 lbs. of cloth- ing to the Salvation Army and 50 Ibs. to the Scott Mission. The visiting committee made 88 calls. Owing to unsettled conditions no repairs were made .on the manse this year. There | is a 'small balance on hand. The hospital report was given in de- tail but will be printed else- where. New motions were made to again pay the caretaker and organist and to support the Formosan girl. Plans were made for serving lunch after the Annual Church Meeting on Jan, 27th and committees ap- pointed to plan a spring tea. South and West groups. will join to form a unit comparable in size to the North group. Lunch was served by the execu- tive. Mrs. Chas. Short's primary S. S. class favoured us with a little song on Sunday morning. Jim Fishley was acting Supt. and Wendy Monahan contributed birthday money.,. Yes, we had a shower in Sea- grave on Friday evening despite sub-zero temperatures. The couple so honoured were Miss Diane Davey and Mr. Francis Tobin, whose marriage will take place Jan. 30th. Thero wasn't too much precipitation but the two ladies (Enid Belair and Mary Lloyd) f#ipersonat- ing the mothers of the bride & groom in the mock wedding wept audibly if not damply and were properly comforted by their respective husbands (Neil "Wanamaker and Doug MecMil- lan). This wedding put on by the choir was strictly for fun. The officiating clergyman (Mau- reen Tobin) had some difficulty maintaining her dignity and the groom (Isabel Duyward) had to mount a chair 'to salute the bride (Ron Abraham). A digni- fied Sylvia Wanamaker ushered in the guests and plunked them down properly. Jack Short and Harvey Monahan suitably ? ? attired were 'the bridal attend- ants, while the groom was sup- ported by Crystal Monahan whd after some difficulty found the ring. Something resembling music was produced between giggles by the two Sharyns, Short and Monahan with Mrs. Abraham at the piano. Mr. O. J. Boe acted as M.C. and read the address to the young couple, after which gifts were opened and lunch served. P.C. Dennis and Mrs, Tobin, Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs. F.
