Old Age Pension To Begin At 65 OTTAWA -- Future old age pensioners got a break from the government last week with an announcement from Prime Minister Pearson that the quali- fying age will be lowered over a five-year period until, in 1970 the pension will be paid at 65. The $75-a-month old age se- curity pension now is paid at age 70. Next year it will be peid at age 69, the following year at age 68 and so on, The change will take the form of an amendment to the Canada Pension Plan, which will come before Parliament again in a few days after being examined through 51 sittings by a joint parliamentary com- mittee. The old age security program, although separate from the proposed OPP is be- ing meshed in with the plan to some degree.
