Subsidy A subsidy for wards of the Children's Aid, Society over 18 years old approved by Ontario County Council. The move was in support of a resolution made by the Coun- ty of Lanark which seeks a subsidy for wards of public authorities between the ages of 18 and 21. Deputy Reeve Mrs. Jean Me- Pherson, of Pickering Town- ship, opposed the resolution. "This would be encouraging a little bit of laziness in our youngsters by looking after them until this age, Most of them want to get to work." Ask Removal Tax On Drugs More than 100,000 signatures on a petition will form part of a brief to the Minister of Fi- nance, Walter Gordon, which will be presented by the Ontario Pharmacists' Association be- fore the end of the month. The brief asks an end to the 119% Federal Sales Tax on pre- scription drugs. Petition forms have been placed on dispensary counters of approximately 2000 drug stores across Ontario during January. "This tax imposed by the Canadian Government adds sub- stantially to the cost and dis- comfort of being sick" the pre- sident of the Ontario Pharma- cists' Association said. /This Association is a voluntary or ganization formed in 1918 and its aims are all directed to im- provements in public health. "We believe this tax to be out of line with modern Can- ada's attitude toward its eciti- zens," the OPA president added.
