Following the banquet at Trinity United Church, the group met in the Agriculture Board Room to plan the 1965 4-H club program. A certificate, recognizing five years of service as a club leader, was" presented to John Leask of Port Perry. Club leader pins, recognizing one year as a club leader, were pre« sented to Ralph Honey and Larry Burt, Port Perry 4-H grain club leaders, Albert Hockley, Scott 4-H potato, Ted Gerdon, Sunderland 4-H dairy, Norm Meek, Scott 4-H grain, and Bert Pearson, Scott 4-H tractor club leaders. Dairy clubs will be organized in the Brougham, Oshawa, Port Perry, and Sunderland areas; a- beef club in the Uxbridge area, mixed (dairy and Beef) clubs in the Mara and Beaverton areas; grain clubs in the Can- nington, Oshawa, Port Perry & Uxbridge areas; a potato club at Uxbridge, and a tractor maintenance club in the Port Perry or Brooklin areas. If there is sufficient interest a grain corn club will be or- ganized in the south part of the county ;and a market hog club in the central part of the county | this year. The 4-H agricultural program will be organized with various area meetings on\March 22 and 30. Special tings will be held in April 'and June dealing with agricultural careers, and Farm Safety. Plans were also made to have 4-H club members visit the Ontario Agricultural College on a special bus trip the end of June, The club' program will con- clude with achievement days in August or September. Farm boys and girls, 12 years old by January 1,.1965, and. .vot | 21 years old by December 31, 1965, are invited to join a 4-H club. Prospective members are requested to contact the Depart- ment of Agriculture office Ux- Lridge. The Feb, meeting of the Green- bank W.I. met at the home of Mrs. Robt, Baird with a good attendance of members and vi- sitors. After the opening procedures Mrs, N. Smith, President, wel- comed viistors and members and thanked the hostess for the use of her home. Roll Call, "A news item from another country" answered by a few members, proved inter- esting. In her informative and educational talk, Mrs. Collins gave us scmething to think about e.g. (1) Several children found to have T.B. traced back to a baby-sitter, (2) through jet travel to countries where there is such a large percentage of the pop. with T.B., The T.B. Assoc. is planning a mass sur- vey soon, so let's plan to get that picture taken. Mrs, Mrs. Anderson, on behalf of the ladies, thanked Mrs. Collins. showed of Mrs. Collins also some splendid pictures Reme, Switzerland, ete. "The Queen", Grace, and a social half hour followed. County Council, The first report of the spe- cial committee on county mat- ters said that the present coun ty system should be examined and if necessary modernized to meet present and future needs, , The committee chairman, Reeve Wilfrid Gould of Ux- bridge, said: "If we are mot careful we could be abssorbed into other counties, losing our identities. "The provincial government hes begun by forming township school boards -- just a begin- ning. The ratepayers are not concerned about autonomy--but with the services which are pro- vided," Reeve Gould said.
