To celebrate this happy event Mr. and Mrs. Vernon were "At Heme" to their many friends and relatives on Sunday, Feb, 28th. Over two hundred guests were present to offer congra- tulations to the happy couple. The younger grandchildren were happy to look after the door and the guest book. Pouring tea in the afternon were Mrs. J. Bray, Mrs, E. Holtby, Mrs. J. Crosier & Mrs. E. Beare. Mrs. Charles Wales and Miss Mary Wales, perform- ed these duties in the evening. These ladies were assisted by four granddaughters, Prior to the tea, the coms ME, and Mrs. Celebrate 50th Anniversary munity and friends presented Mr. and Mrs. Vernon with a lovely set of dishes. Other gifts 'were also received, along with many cards, telegrams and letters. : The highlight of the evening was a phone call from Mr. Venon's twin sister Mrs. Scott Gillette of Cortland New York. Mr. and Mrs, Vernon have spent all their married life on the home farm, which has been in the Vernon family for five riage seven children were born, Robert, Harold(deceased), Ron-] ald, Clare. Two children passed away in infancy. Along with their four surviv- ing sons, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon are blessed with 18 grandchild- ren ard one great grandson.
