Gossard Co. Port Perry Senior Citizens Club Once again our Club Hall, Port Perry was the scene of great activity on Wednesday March 24th. Weather this time was in our favour. We met 3 p.m., had a short meeting, with our president, Mrs. Chapman in the chair. Mrs. Cullen extended a welcome to everyone. Not much business was discussed as we had a busy time ahead, we all sang The Queen. Community singing was enjoyed followed by cards and a social time. Then everyone got busy to prepare the tables. About 64 sat down to enjoy a delicious pot luck supper brought in by the mem- bers. Everything to tempt one's appetite, what a jolly time we all had. After supper a program was put on and supervised by Mra. Stone. Several comical readings were given by mem. bers. Then the highlight of the evening, pictures were shown of Mr. Buckland's many travels. How we enjoyed visiting (to some of us) the scenes of our childhood, and even those who weren't born there could not help but admire the beauty of scertery & historical Churches, etc. Old Bath Abbey, England which was black with age and built in the 16th Century and was recently restored and all cleaned to its natural beauty of golden cream. Of (Westbury White House). This house is embedded on a hill and is com- pletely made of white chalk, in Wiltshire, England. It can be seen miles around as you drive around the country. It took a long while for a soldier, to com- plete it and is in memory of the Battle of Hastings. This house has weathered over a good many years. Other pictures shown of Nor- way, also their lovely old Chur- ches and such flower and scen- ery, Mr. Buckland showed us slides of our trip to Niagara (on the bus) last year. Many recognized their pictures sur- rounded by gorgeous tress and flowers. Thank you Mr. Buck- land for a delightful evening. Greenbank WI The March meeting of the Greenbank W.I. was held at the home of Mrs. Geo. Stone. The Pres. Mrs. N. Smith, opened the meeting asking all to repeat the Mary Stewart Collect, then sing the opening Ode. Roll Call: "Old customs I have seen die out' started some of the ladies reminiscing. The Pres. read a poem "Never go back except in your heart", in keeping with the Motto: "To be 70 years young is sometimes: more cheerful than to be 40 yrs. old, Remember the Short Course "Choosing and Using of Fab- ries" in Greenbank Hall Ap¥il 9th starting at 10.00 a.m. to 4 pm.
