Wardens A history of Ontario County wardens in pictures is the ob- ject of a county-wide search. Their portraits will adorn the new county courthouse and ad- ministration building here. Since Ontario County became a corporate municipality in 1854, a warden has been elected each year, During the early years of the county corporation there were cases where a war- den was elected to a second term, but this has not been the case in recent years. The first warden of the coun- ty was T. N. Gibbs of the Vil- lage of Oshawa. He also held the post in 1856. George Brooks, deputy reeve of Whitby, announced the war- dens' gallery plans at the April session of Ontario County Coun- cil this week. "Only five wardens of consider- able vintage are not represent- ed in the county collection -- William Smith Township, who was warden in 1862; William S. Sextor of Scu- gog Township, 1870; James Graham of Scugog Township 1879; Henry Gordon of Port Perry, 1885 and S. H. Glassford of- Cannington, 1891, If you have a photograph of these county leaders, William G. Manning, clerk-treasurer of Ontario County, would like to hear from you. Lady Minister Guest Speaker Rev.
