LATER EG wl NB AT aN 48 2 ~ PORT PERRY STAR, Thursday, April 29, 1965 PROSPECT NEWS The U.C.W. met on Thursday evening, 22nd, at the home of Mrs. Jean Holtby. She opened the meeting with the poem, by Isa Grindlay Jackson. THE LESSON A blade of green raised up its head, While all the earth lay cold and dead, I thought the gallant little spear Had come too early in the year. But, lo, it weathered every blast, And bore a tender flower at last. Could little seeds of kindly thought Thus set naught, And pierce through selfs un- fertiie crust, And swerve from gossip's care- less thrust; Then Love would bud and bloom and bear, In life's gay borders eveywhere. Continuing with a spring theme, "The glory of the spring how sweet" was sung. Dot Holt- by read a poem 'A Spring Song'. Miss Margaret Vernon favoured us again with her Easter solo, "1 walked today, where Jesus walked", with piano accompan- iment by Willa Holtby. Jean introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Bradley, who with Mr. and Mrs. Nelson teach religious ed- ucation in 37 schools to 2800 children. Mrs. Bradley is also active in the Bible Club Move- ment and Camp Work. There is a Summer Camp at Omemee.
