Perhaps tho family had the big day while mother had the prepara- tion and cleaning up. So far as church attendance is concerned we should have Mothers Day every. week, then we would see quite a few of our "not-so-regulars" and have bet- ter congregations, Oddly enough one of our very regular families, the G. Wanamakers were missing this week, They were entertaining the flu bug. Former members of our church seem to like to return home for the baptism of their children. This was apparent this week when Mr. and Mrs, Wm. Roy (Elsie Harper) and Mr. and Mrs. Earle Whittaker (Diana Stickwood) presented their young daughters Debra Jane Roy and Janice Lynne Whittaker for baptism. The third wee girl to be baptised was Dawn 'Marie Abraham, daughter of Mr. and Mts, Rae Abraham. Another departure from the regular service was the installa- tion of the five younger mem- bers of the Board of Stewards: . Mr. Lawrence Nicholls, Mr, 'Doug McMillan, Mr. Neil Wana- maker, Mr. Jim Fishley and Mr. Ken Sturman. It might be of interest-to note that the last four mentoned are also the S, S. Superintendents. At the service we welcomed Mr, and Mrs, Sinclair of Peter- boro, visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ken Sturman, Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Sturman, Oshawa with Mr. and Mrs. W. Sturman and Mrs. Co. chrane, Blackstock who came to witness the baptism. of her granddaughter Dawn Abraham, Mrs. Edgar Butt continues to make splendid progress after surgery and Mrs. N. McMillan is at home again. Some of our friends are not so fortunate, We refer to Mrs, John Tristram in Port Perry hospital for sur- gery, Mr, Wes, Crosier in Lind- say and Mr. Norman Vincent Deaths E. To celebrate their respective wedding anniversaries on May 9 and May 10, Mr. and Mrs. J. Clarke and Mr. and Mrs. Belair spent Saturday in St. Cathar- ines, - Some time ago we reported Mrs, Grose in Toronto helping her sister Mrs. Alma Garlick attend Mrs, Garlick Sr. Next we hear Mrs. Garlick is helping Mrs. Grose in Seagrave while Mrs. Dowson did the Toronto nursing. Now another shuffle and all three women are back at their own homes, The Fishley family have re- turned from New Liskeard and advise us to wait a while before going there as the roads are still broken up. A Sunday School meeting was held on Thurs. evening with Doug McMillan presiding. The big question was what should be done with a peeling ceiling and a scuffed floor. Sev- eral estimates for the jobs were considered then .we took a good look at our bank balance and decided to wait awhile. Neil Wanamaker was asked to call a meeting of former U.P.U. mem- bers and suggest they divert a sum of money held in trust, to the reconditioning project. The Board of Stewards held a meeting on Wed. evening about furnace business and now we hear the F.L.Q. has replaced the cracked and broken win- dows in the basement. Rev. E.
