Over one hundred mothers and daughters attended this happy event. Seated at the Head Table and introducéd by the Mistress of Ceremonies, Captain Mrs. Geo. Hall were the Reverend Mr. A. Rice, B.A. and Mrs, Rice, Mrs. Don Gray, Past President of the Guide and Brownie Mothers' Auxiliary; Guide Beverley Short; Ranger Captain Mrs. William Lamb; Brown Owl Mrs. Barry Howey, who filled in for Brown Owl Mrs. Jack Geer; Ranger Catharine Nelson, Pac- kie for 2nd Brownie Pack and Company Leader Sharon Baird. The committee in charge for this banquet daintily arranged the bounteous repast and grac- ing the head table was a large decorated cake in the traditional Guide colours of blue and gold. After the Grace, pronounced by the minister, everyone joined in the Pappy fellowship of good { food and friendship. The Toast to the Mothers was delightfully given by Ran- ger Lynne Beare and graciously responded to by Mrs, Robert Healey, mother of a Guide and Ranger, who in her brief res- ponse congratulated the girls in having such splendid leaders to teach them the requirements of good guiding. Greetings were brought from the Guide and Brownie Moth- ers' Auxiliary by Past President Mrs. Don Gray, who expressed her pleasure in seeing so many mothers out to this annual event, and also extended laurels to the leaders and helpers who have kept the standards so high in the Girl Guide Movement in Port Perry. The long-looked for highlight of the evening was the awards presented to the different girls for achievements acquired. Brown Owl Howey with the as- sistance of Packie Nelson took charge of the Brownie awards for Brown Owl Mrs. Geer who was absent through illness. The following received their badges: Collectors--Jill Dowson; Jackie Hartin and Denise Stein. Toy- makers--Jackie Hartin; Donna Pargeter; Donna Michie and Jane Sorley. Knitters-- Susan Tripp. The Best Six award went to the Gnomes -- Sherry Boyce; Margo Michie; Margaret Vok- ins; Donna Wakeford & Vickie Heayn. Ranger Linda Jefford received hers from Ran- ger Captain Mrs. William Lamb, Before presenting the Religion gnd Life Awards, the Reverend Mr. Rice spoke brief- ly in humourous vein and held the attention of all. The girls who received this coveted award were Ranger Gayle Wright, who is also president of the local Hi-C Group; Linda Pickard; Brenda Webster and Lea-Anne Ballard. The Best Patrol Award was given to the Bluebells--Joanne Martyn; Lea - Anne Ballard; Janet Carnegie; Cathy DeShane Janice Durham; Patti Leahy; Debbie Garvey. Twenty girls out of the 2nd Company have earned 107 Bad- ges since October. Sixty-three of these were presented at this Banquet so states Captain Hall.
