Blacksto Monday evening, June 7th the Guides and Brownies held a joint meeting which opened in the United Church, Rev. P. Romeril dedicated the New Canadian Flag, which was given the Guides by the O.N.O. club. Following the dedication ser- vice, the Guides and Brownies went to the C. E. room where the rest of the evening was spent in fun games, i. Bevo tion of badges and two Guides, Betty Bradburn and Leona Wright received their All Round Cords, This was the final meeting of the year. The Spring Tea sponsored by the U.C.W. and held in the Re- creation Centre Wednesday, June 9th was quite successful. President Mrs. Harold Kyte welcomed all, Mrs. J. Carnag- han introduced the guest--Mrs. Michaeljohn of Toronto Garden Club who displayed several floral arrangements, explaining why, done in such a manner as she placed each flower, which was most interesting. Mrs. Neil Malcolm expressed the thanks of the gathering who had showed their appreciation by hearty claps after each .de- monstration. Mrs. Lorne Thompson rend- ered a lovely piano solo "The Guitarre". i Mrs, Kyte expressed her per- sonal thanks as well as confirm- ing Mrs. Malcolm's and invited all to have a closen look at the floral arrangements. A delicious buffet luncheon and social time brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close. Msds. P. Romeril, K. Samells, L. Wright and B. Mountjoy poured tea and coffee. Service was held in the Ang- lican Church Sunday momming in spite of difficulties. Mr. Fred Hamilton was to have been in charge, but passed away very suddenly. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Me- Laughlin of Ottawa was spend- ing the week-end with his par- ents. Lawrence presided for the service, Mr. George Wolfe had a recorded sermon of Can- on Ashmore's which he played and Mrs. L. McLaughlin was organist. The June meeting of the O.N.O. Club was held at the home of Nancy Bryanse~on Thursday evening the 10th iy 25 members and three visitors present, Minutes were read and adopted. A paint-by-number picture has been given Helen Dorrell. Ruby Van Camp reported a successful banquet for Teachers Federation held. Thank - you cards from the Girl Guides and Helen Dorrell were read. Treasurer Noreen Malcolm re- ported $302.60 on hand. Decided to invite the husbands for a ball game Monday even- ing 14th, Roll Call -- Bring and model your wedding dress, proved very interesting. Lunch was served by the hostess and group, ending a very 'interesting evening. Sincere sympathy is extended Mrs. Fred Hamilton and family also the sister and brothers in the sudden death of Mr. Fred Hamilton Saturday evening.
