4 SEAGRAVE NEWS Here is one for the books. Mr. and Mrs. H. Eagleson at- tended a Re-union at S.S. No. 17 Mariposa on Saturday after- noon, where Herb. had received his Entrance and Public School Leaving Certificates 75 years 880. We presume that he was the oldest graduate present as he is nearing his 90th birthday. This school and others in the south-west corner of the town- ship are closing in the interests of progress. The pupils will be accommodated at Little Bri- tain school until a central school is built. In thinking of school we rea- lize that exam results are com- ing now. So far as we know at present, all our students have passed, some with excellent percentages. We can't mention all but one worthy of note is Elizabeth Nodwell who stood 1st in Grade 8 at Greenbank school and so gets her name in- scribed on the school plaque. Our hospital report is a mix- "ture of good and not so good. Miss Jean Bright is home again but Mr. Orville Boe remains in hospital for further rest, We are sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Florence (Clem- ents) Brown and also of the "serious illness of Mr. D. J. Mac- Taggart. Both were residents of this district a few years ago. July 1st has been celebrated at Sonya a long long time. This year there was a ball game and supper. The boys must have earned their meal. Score was Sonya Braves 20, Woodville 8. Sunday's results were Sonya b, Port Perry 3. Last Sunday some thought S. 8. would be at 10.30, others at 11 o'clock and quite a number apparently figured there would be none at all. Attendance was only 56. The men let us down this time. The super superin- tendent Doug. McMillan was in charge. Larry Short produced birthday money and three prim- ary pupils sang 'Jesus Loves " Me This number was really enjoyed by both the children themselves and their listeners. The Induction service for Rev, D. Harris on Sunday evening brought many visitors from Greenbank and Pinedale, mak- ing a nice start toward further friendships. Rev. E. McNeil was in charge of the service, assisted by Rev. N. Reid, Sun- derland. Rev. K. Crawford, Omemee conducted the amalga- mation service and addressed the congregation. At the close of the service a social hour was enjoyed while the ladies served a light lunch. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Gary Sweetman, Streetsville brought their infant son down to see his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Sweetman. It wouldn't seem like summer in Seagrave without Mrs. Blan- che Hanvey of Toronto. She is having her usual holiday here. Guests from here at the Moon - Hindley wedding in Toronto on Friday evening were:-- Mr. and Mrs, W. Keen and Brian, Mr. and Mrs. J. Tobin and Mau- reen and of course Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Moon and Clifford. We trust that married life for Har- old and Joan will be less un- settled than the weather they had for their wedding. Mr. and Mrs. A. Moon enter- tained Mr, and Mrs. Williams and family of Goderich over the week-end. Mr. John Herder and his four sons called on friends in Bethel corner on Saturday. Mrs. Doris Kalil from Ottawa spent a few days with the Nod- well family. Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Wana- maker, Neil and Bill deserted Seagrave Church on Sunday morning in favour of Pt. Perry. The reason is easily guessed. They had to be on hand to see the baptism of the small daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Wana- maker. Mrs. [Eagleson is considering going down to the four corners on Sunday evening to direct traffic, She is under the im- pression that she might as well do it there as at home as so many south-bound motorists miss the turn and find them- selves driving north again, Couldn't we have some signs or arrows on that corner?
