There was a good attendance of members and visitors. The Pres., Mrs. N. Smith, opened the meeting with a poem, "The Value of a Smile". After the usual opening pro- cedure, Mrs. Smith welcomed everyone and thanked Mrs. Dia- mond for use of her home. Roll Call--"The gadget I use mostly in my kitchen" brought forth some amusing answers. Our Home Economist, Miss Janitis is leaving us and is be- ing transfered to North Bay. We will miss her sparkling per- sonality. We've been accepted for a Short Course, Reports were given by Mrs. R. Cookman, on Citizenship & Ed.; Mrs. H. Howsam on His- torical Research & Current Events; Mrs. A. Couves, P.R.O. Mrs. P. Diamond gave a Splendid Report of the District Annual held in Kinsale, May 20. Mrs. J. Ianson, Curator, ask- ed us, during the summer months, to hunt up something for the Tweedsmuir History or Current Events or both, Mrs. Diamond introduced our guest speaker, Mr. Thos. Harris, Port Perry. Mr. Harris stressed the im- portance woman has in society. Abe Lincoln gave credit to his mother. Mr. Harris told of one woman's faith in another, also one woman's success. Mr. Har- ris based his main talk on "Wills". Why should you make (1) One is free to make his will any way he sees fit. (2) It is more costly if you don't have a will. (3) A will is not a costly matter. Young people should have a will. A question and answer period followed Mr. Harris' talk. Mrs. Smith thanked our guest on be- half of the ladies. This most profitable educa- tional evening was brought to a close with the singing of the Queen. on at their cottage, Pine Point A social half-hour followed.
