Port Perry Area Delegates Attend District Assembly About 42 Port Perry area delegates are back home today following a four-day district as- sembly of Jehovah's Witnesses in Peterborough which saw at- tendance figures reach 6,740. An early estimate of peak attendance had been 4,500. The pressure of mounting numbers of delegates led to an appeal for additional sleeping accommoda- tions by assembly officials. A small tent city complete with temporary roads, lighting and water service was set up on a nearby farm, for 600 delegates. Mr. John Hoglo, presiding minister for this area, said the peak attendance was at a pub- lic Bible lecture Synday after- noon. This was delivered by G. W. Sallis, representative from the Toronto branch head- quarters of the Watch Tower Society. "World government is neces- sary to the preservation and happiness of the human family. This fact is being admitted more & more as time goes on," Mr. Sallis said. "But can it come only by hu- man means? Is man of this brain age the final one for us to look to for bringing in the all-necessary world govern- ment?" he asked. "Is there nothing beyond man and his science to which to look and to appeal? Happily there is," he said., Mr. Sallis appealed to. his listeners to "seek that everlast- ing life as offered by the Lord God through his Prince of Peace and through the world govern- ment resting on his shoulder." "The objective of the conven- tion was realized," Mr. Hoglo said. "Many religions today are losing sight of the value of the Bible and its purpose, but this convention brought sharply in- to focus the uracy of the, Scriptures wl thin practical value for our'time." Friday morning, 83 persons were immersed in a nearby pool to symbolize their dedication to serve the interests of their God, Jehovah. + Mr. 'Russel Spinks, Oshawa |° at Ladies All Summer ~~ SALE the ELIZABETH SHOPPE > Numerous articles in Childrens and Wear at 4 HALF PRICE and LESS Merchandise @® Cayuga, over the weelf-end. @ Sorry to report Mrg.
