Prouse, 75, and some 'companions on whose farm this Mountain Ash tree was located, twited the tree limbs like a pretzel. The tree has remained in this odd shape over six decades. Mr. Prouse a former prominent building contractor has been Pickering Township building inspector for a number of years. The tree is on property now owned by Ontario Hydro for the Pickering nuclear powe plant. (Ontario Hydro Photo) _ OBITUARIES -- R. GARFIELD HOOD " R. Garfield Hood, a native of Scugog Island, died Aug. 8 in Fort Erie Douglas Memorial Hospital. He was in his 80th , New Jersey and three sons, Lloyd and Stanley of Toronto and Franklin of Oshawa. He { was predeceased by a son, Al- | fred. year. 1 "Also surviving are a brother, A son of the late George and Elizabetl: Hood, the deceased was born on Scugog Island and received his education at the Scugog Township school. Leaving the Scugog area as a voung man, Mr. Hood was a baker by trade and owned and operated his own business in Toronto for many years. He had been living in Fort Erie for! 10 years. Predecased by his first wife, 30 vears ago, Mr. Hood is sur- vived by his second wife, the former Florence L.. Stark; a daughter, Mrs. Rictard West- wood (Gertrude) of Newark, Roy) Hood, of Oshawa. He wag ' predeceased by a sister and two "brothers. The funeral service will be held at the McDermott-Pana- baker Funeral Chapel, Port Perry, at 2 p.m. Aug. 11. Risebrough visited with Mr. and Mrs. Alan Card one evening. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Geer vi- sited Mr. and Mrs. Bowen of Oshawa at their cottage in Hali- burton for a couple of days, then spent one night with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Geer who are holidaying at Bobcaygeon. Mr. and Mrs. H.
