12 -- PORT PERRY STAR, Blacksto A large number of relatives and friends gathered in the Recreation Centre on Friday evening, August 13th in hon- our of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dean (Doris Griffin) who were mar- ried recently. Mr. Neil Bailey was the MC and after seating the happy couple on the stage and making some witty comments he called on the following programme: Mrs. Harold Larmer gave a reading, "Kindness is Curren- cy"; Miss Carol Werry render- ed a piano solo; Mrs. L. R. Ar- gue read, "Marriage Cook" and "Like Mother used to do"; Heather Dorrell played a piano solo. With a few remarks the MC presented the gifts which had been placed on stage and table and consisted of a Davenport, coffee table, pole lamp and many miscellaneous articles. Both bride and groom express- ed their appreciation. Mrs. Cecil Hill and Mr. Roy Ferguson attended the Pretty- Ferguson wedding in Parkwod United Church, Don Mills on Saturday and spent the week- end with Rev:~and Mrs. Merrill Ferguson, in the Minden area and attend- ed Detoration Day Service at Ingoldsby Cemetery on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs." William Cox of Bowmanville were Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. 0. Ven- ning. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Strong, Mr. and Mrs. Marwood McKee and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Lawson of Yelverton attended the Bruce reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bruce of Seagrave on Sunday. Mrs. F. F. MacNab of Port Credit and Mrs. A. E. Church picnic will be held in Cartwrig- ht Park on September 11th, Plans were also made for the annual Chicken Pie Supper. The president read an interest- ing article entitled, "Pakistan Patchwork", telling of the church and the people there. The meeting closed with prayer and refreshments were served.
