Well -- We can try. Vital statistics first: -- Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stone on the birth of their daughter, Angela Marie. Joe is slowly getting back to normal. We also have a wedding to report. On Friday the 13th (yes that's right) Miss Carol Reid, Oshawa and Mr. Lee Sturman, Seagrave were married in Sim- coe St. United Church, Oshawa. The happy couple are now hav- ing a honeymoon trip to Van- couver, B-C. Other news is not so happy. On Saturday, Mr. F. Watson re- ceived a message that his older brother, John Watson, Stabely, Alberta had passed away at the age of 81. We extend our sym- pathies to brothers Frank and George and sister, Mrs. Goodale. More re-unions:-- On Sunday, Mr- and Mrs. E. Butt, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Butt, Ricky and Gail attended the Butt re-union at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Holden and Mrs. Ada Bradley at Stouffville. About 30 relatives were present including Mrs. Bradley's elder daughter from Florida. Also on Sunday, Bruce fam- ilies. from far and near assem- bled at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bruce. The special guests for the occasion were 'Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Bruce- of Collville, Sask. who were greet- ed by about 40 Ontario Bruces. On Saturday 14th, a number of the younger teens had a hay wagon cruise and a wiener roast at Sun Valley club, to cel- ebrate the birthdays of Crystal Monahan and Glenn Stone. It wasn't exactly quiet. Our western travellers are trickling back again. The Tris- trams have already arrived, the Clarkes and Bryants are oa their way and the Nicholls will come along soon too Mr. Robert Nodwell and Rose- mary arrived from Scotland on Monday 16th, hale and hearty. Flying Officer Jack Hadley, R.C.AF., his wife and children spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Short. While there they visited the Sifto Salt Mines. Mrs. Eagleson and Mrs. Clem- ents attended Church in Port Perry oa Sunday, then spent the afternoon with Mr. and Mrs: Chas. Wilson, Burketon. Improvements are being made down at the Church but we hear so many conflicting stories we hesitate to say what is rellly happening. Perhaps they are in- stalling a swimming pool. Cartwright Council News The regular monthly meeting of Council was held in the ev- ening on August 3rd at 7.30 p.m. with all members present. After the reading of the min- utes, Council met with the reg- ular C.L.S.R.P.A. deputation and also Mrs. Tait who had a petition signed by a number of summer residents wanting the Council to do many things in- cluding cutting hedges down that belonged to private indiv- iduals. Council promised to in- vestigate. Messrs. Ashton and Gilbank present requested Council to widen, the South Boundary so that combines and other wide farm equipment pass theron. Messrs.
