SCUGOG NEWS Mys. Earl Reader has return- ed after a 12 day trip to Re- gina, Moose Jaw and Vancouver with Connie and Cliff Charlton. Flight - Lieutenant Henry Webster with his wife and fa- mily from Ottawa visited the homes of his cousins, Ray Web- ster of Port Perry, Nelson Rea- 'der and Mrs. Don Ashbridge of Scugog and Mrs. Alfred Angus of Port Perry before flying to Germany where he will serve a| term in the Armed Forces. Mr. and Mrs. S. Arnold have returned by train from Winni- peg and Carmen, Man., and N. Dakota, after visiting with re- latives. Mr. Whitney Barry of Hali- Jburton and Mr. Bill Barry of Cochrane visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Heayn recently. On Sat. night friends and neighbours of Scugog gathered at the Township Hall to honour Heather and Gilbert Reader up- on the occasion of their recent | marriage. The evening was spent in playing euchre and other card games. Prizes went to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Manns, Orval Heayn, Rueben Brekke, Heather Reader and Beverley Manns. After Heather and Gilbert were called to the front, Mrs. . Wilson read an address and on behalf of the Island people Mrs. N. Reader and Mrs. D. Gerrow presented the gifts of gold upholstered hostess chair, dark coffee table, pole floor lamp and brass magazine rack, In a few fitting words Gilbert and Heather expressed their . thanks & appreciation to those who had given their time and efforts toward the presentation and to all who had contributed toward such lovely gifts. Arnold Heayn has returned from a strenuous but happpy time at the Ontario Athletic Leadership camp at Lake Cou- chiching. It was indeed an hon- our to be chosen and given the privilege of attending. A great number of high schools were represented. Arnold won several competitions and races that were part of the routine. David Middleton has return- ed from scout camp at the Highland Provincial Camp at Scarborough. : - They had a wonderful time visiting places of interest like the Exhibition, Centre Island, and the Cana- dian Bank of Commerce. But David had been suffering from poison in his foot and had to be hospitalized on Sunday. At present he is recovering quite well. On Monday night Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Heayn left by plane for a trip to England. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Parrot (a niece of Mr. T. Redman) now living in Uxbridge spent Sun- day at the Redman home. Mrs. Ed. Pearson of Oshawa spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. T. Redman, The recent film of Africa shown by Rev. Rudd of the Bible Society - at the Head Church a week ago was enjoy- ed by the few who were able to | attend. \. Master Bobbie Aldred is va- cationing for a few days with friends in Toronto. Mr. Payne of Buffalo, Mrs. Crooks and Mr. Port Perry, Monday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. Me- Laren. Miss Beverley Miller of Osh- awa holidaying at the Miller cottage, Pine Point. Mr. and Mrs. Helliwell and family of West Hill, Mr. and Mrs, Jack Pettie of Toronto & Mr. and Mrs. H. McCallum of Jackson of, Toronto Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs, F, Tyrell, Mr. and Mrs. W. Watts of Toronto spent the week-end at their cottage, Pine Point, Mr. and Mrs. L. Davis have returned after spending part of their vacation in Syracuse N.Y. Mr. Yaremcko, Dr. Yaremcko and children holidaying at Mec- Laren's Beach. Mr. and Mrs. H. Matthews spent Monday and Tuesday in Toronto. Mr, and Mrs, Alan Carter spent Sunday with friends in Belleville. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Cubbett and Miss Joyce Cubbett of Tor- onto Saturday' night dipner guests of Mr. and Mrs. 8S. Chandler. Mr. and Mrs. M. Appleton & family attended the Appleton re-union on Sunday at Green- wood Provincial Park. Congratulations to Mr, and Mrs. McClelland (nee Sharon PORT PERRY STAR, Crozier) on the birth of a son. Mr. and Mrs. J. Demara at- tended Blackstock Fair on Monday, Miss Mary Lynn Holtby of Prospect is visiting with Miss Janice Carter for a few days. Misses Gloria Fralick, Reta Lambert and Elizabéth Sporer of Toronto have been in Mont- real for a few days prior to the departure of Miss Sporer, who will be spending two years in Dar Es Salaam, Tansania, East Thurs, Sept. 2nd, 1965 --11 Africa. Miss Sporer is a school teacher. Mr. and Mrs, H. Brodie of Toronto have just completed two weeks holidays at their cottage, Pine Point. Mr. and Mrs. R® Chappell, David of Toronto, finished their holidays Monday. Mr. Peter Chappell will be at the cottage until Labor Day.
