Elizabeth Alice Couves Wes Robert Hugh Dobson In "| home Greenbank United Church Baskets of 'dahlia, shasta daisies, phlox and hydrangea, in the complimentary colours of the bridal party - pink, rose, -and white - made an attractive setting in Greenbank United 'Church on August 7th, 1965 for the solemn marriage of Eliza- beth Alice Couves, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ar- thur William Couves, Green- bank, to Robert Hugh Dobson, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Winfred Dobson, R.R. 3, Ux- bridge. The Reverend Mr. David Har- ris officiated at the ceremony. The music was rendered by the groom's aunt, Mrs. John Dobson who also accompanied the so- loist, her daughter, Mrs. Cloyne Stearman, who sang '"O Perfect Love" and "The Lord's Prayer". Entering into the groom's presence, the bride wore a can- dled white, floor length gown made of "Rosetwirl" lace with the gleam of peou de soie shimmering through. The peau de soie camisole bodice was en- hanced with a jewel necked, long lily-pointed sleeves, fitted, lace overblouse. The bell shaped skirt featured the lace over peau de soie and to complete the gown, a luxurious, long, rounded, lace over peau de soie train draped from the waist- line. The elbow length bridal veil was caught to her crown shaped tiera of cut crystal. The ensemble was designed and made by the bride. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father and given in marriage by her par- ents. Preceding the bride was her sister, the maid of honour Miss Ruth Couves, wearing a gown the exact style 'as the bride's. The floor length, bell shaped skirt. was of glimmering rose peau de soie & was styled with the rose peau de soie camisole bodice. The bridesmaids, Mrs. Danny Reesor, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Glen Till, sister of the groom, wore dusty pink peau de goie and "Rosetwirl" dusty pink lace, identically designed as the maid of honour and also made by the girls. Each of the girls carried a bouquet of pink sweet- heart roses and white pom-pom mums clustered with fern. Mr. Glen Till, acted as best man for his brother-in-law. The ushers were Mr. Danny Reesor, brother-in-law of the bride, and Mr. Wilmot Phair, brother-in- law of the groom. The reception was held in the church parlour. Greeting the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Cou- ves, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Dobson, The bride's mother had chosen a matching colour of the bridal party and was wearing. a rose coloured, silk sheath dress with a matching rose lace jacket with a .built up neckline and self bow at the curved neckline. Her hat was of matching silk. The groom's mother was attired in aqua blue a pleasant contrast for the day. The ribbed crepe sheath with shaped overblouse was accen- tuated by ribbon lace motifs on the bodice. Matching this en- semble was a bouffant aqua blue hat. Guests were present from Greenbank, Uxbridge, Port Perry, North Bay, Woodville, Port Colborne, Markham, Brampton, Toronto, Glenarm, Cooksville, Norval, Georgetown, Scarborough, Oshawa, Brooklin, Bowmanville, Milton, Guelph. The happy couple spent their honeymoon in Northern Ontario. The bride donned a peach bon- clé sheath-styled dress covered by a matching three-quarter length coat with a wedding ring collar, Brown accessories and a peach. corsage adorned this outfit, The couple will make their home near Uxbridge. PRE-NUPTIAL PARTIES The community shower, at which the bride received many and varied gifts, was on July Tth at her home. The staff, before the closing of school, made a presentation of sterling silver. She also received a love- ly gift from the members of St. Andrew's Chalmers Church, Uxbridge, of which she is or- ganist. A crystal shower was held at Norval by Mrs. Couves' rela- tives. Manchester There will be church service as usual next Sunday morning | at 10.05, Mr .and Mrs. Keith Dyke are from a vacation in Jamaica. Mr. Oswald Croxall had a very successful sale of his fine dairy herd on Friday evening. Mrs. Grant Christie spent several days with relatives in London, Miss Patricia Vangelles and Mr. Gerald Crosier of Toronto visited his grandmother, Mrs, Crosier on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. A, Roach and daughters were at their cottage for the long week-end. 'The U.C.W. met at the home of Mrs Annie Toombs last Thursday afternoon. The meet- ing opened with hymn & prayer followed by the Bible reading by Mrs. Lamb. Mrs. Toombs took the topic on "Christian Citizens", and Mrs. Jackson gave an excellent paper on "Stewardship". In the absence of Pres. Mrs. Croxall, Mrs. Ale- tha Holtby presided for the PORT PERRY STAR, Thursday, Sept. 9, 1965-5 News business period. She extended a cordial welcome to the four- teen members and one visitor present. The minutes of Aug- ust meeting were adopted as read, and treasurer Mrs, Lamb gave a very satisfying financial report. Arrangements were complet- ed for the annual bazaar to be held on September 22nd. Seven- ty five dollars was voted for church expenses. The meeting closed with Theme and prayer after which, Mrs. Jackson gave two readings. Mrs. Best assist- ed the hostess to serve coffee, pumpkin pie and whipped cream and everyone enjoyed a social hour, DEATH DAVEY, George Richard--At the Port Perry Community Hospital on Sat., Sept. 4, 1965, George R.
