Bell reported on the displays at Oshawa and Blackstock Fairs, and arrangements were com- pleted for Port Perry Fair, Congratulations to -Honeydale on winning several prizes at our local Fair. A sincere thank you to the ladies who put forth so much effort and time on the entry. During correspondence mem- bers were informed of the short course on "Quilts", to be held Nov. 30 & Dec. 1st, 10 am. - 4 p.m. attendance -- at least twelve is required ,and not more than eighteen. This Course will take in design, color, co-ordina- tion, and how to adapt design to color, a sample block will be made. A two day training school for the Leader and Assistant Leader of the 4-H Junior Home- making Clubs, on the fall pro- ject "The Supper Club" will be held Sept. 27 and 28th at Ux- bridge. H. Hardy was hostess for a delightful "Hobo Tea", for the Honeydale Branch, when they met at her home Thurs., Sept. 9th, to honour Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Bell who were mar- ried recently. After all had assembled, a splendid variety programme was presented by several of the members. At the close, Mrs. L. Honey presented the bride with a woollen blanket. Tea was served by the hostess. Bus Trip Members of Honeydale W.I. and friends enjoyed a bus trip to the Niagara Peninsula in Aug. From there members travelled through the Vineyards and peach orchards, to historical Scout Mothers Auxiliary Now the fall sessions are getting underway the Scout and Cub Mothers' begin their meetings starting next Monday evening Mrs, Jack Cook has graciously ex- tended an invitation to'hold the meeting at her home on Sept- ember 20th, at 8 p.m. The executive are asking all mothers in the community to rally round and support the auxiliary 'this year. Leaders are badly needed for the scout and cub packs. = Plans are underway to make the gatherings as interesting as possible without making it too expensive to enjoy. The first project for the fall is the tour being arranged to go to Mark- ham on Sept. 28th and go through the factory of the Chesebordugh and Ponds. Any- one interested should contact Mrs. John Jefford, Mrs. Lloyd Short, Mrs. Orten Michie or Mrs. Charles Reesor. UTICA UCW The September meeting of the Utica United Church Wo- men's Auxiliary was held in the church basement on Thursday, Sept. 9th at 2 p.m. Meeting was opened with Call to Wor- ship followed by the Themeq Song. Lords Prayer was fol- lowed by reading of Creed Card in unison. Scripture reading Hebrews 4. verses 1-11 and Chap. 6, verses 10-12 was read by Vera Brown. Devotion talk entitled "To the Work", was read by Marion Harper, Hymn 390 "Work for the Night is Coming" was sung. Devotional period was closed with Prayer, Mrs. Handel, the President, took over the meeting for the business portion. Minutes read and adopted. Roll call, 8 mem- bers and 1 visitor. Correspon- dence was read for gifts sent to shut-ins and bereaved. An invitation was received from Goodwood U.C.W. to attend a viewing of slides. Several ac- cepted this invitation. Trea- surers report for July and Aug- ust was read. Plans for coming wedding were discussed. Report was re- P.C.'s To Hold Big Barbeque Ontario County residents are advised to book Saturday, Sept. 26th for the biggest free out- door barbeque ever held in the area. The annual get-together of the county's three Progressive Conservative Organizations will be sponsored that day at the Heber Down Farm on #7 Hwy., one mile west of Brooklin. The get-together is sponsored annually by Federal Member Mike Starr and Provincial Re- presentatives Matt Dymond and Ab Walker and provides an op- portunity for them to meet and talk to supporters and friends from all corners of the county. Mrs. Sam Naples has been appointed the delegate for the Honeydale Branch, Many other items of business were discussed, and tabled for the present. All joined in singing "The Hymn of All Nations". Mrs. Fred Warren convener of Agr. and Can. Industries took the chair for the pro- gramme and called on Mrs. Geo. Bell who commented on the" motto:--Friendship is the only cement that holds the world together. Members were welcome one of our Junior Homemakers, Miss Dorothy Carnochan, who demonstrated Flower arranging. Dorothy displayed several arrangements and gave instructive com- ments, Mrs. Earl Bryant gave an in- teresting and descriptive ac- count of the work being done pleased to Niagara on the Lake, where they visited the historical Mu- seum, Presbyterian Church and Catholic Church.
