Prince Albert News As usual our minister deliv- ered a fine sermon on Sunday. The choir is "practically back into full swing with the aid of their organist Mrs. B. Snel- grove. Offering gathered by Mr. A. Martyn and Mr. F. Gib- son. Holy Communion will be ob- served next Sunday. Parents who wish to haye their children baptised on Oct. 10th please contact the pastor immediately. The first fall meeting of the U.C.W. was held at the home of Mrs. H. Hodgins which was chairéd by the president Mrs. R. Hope who welcomed all pre- sent, Mrs. W. Heayn read the min- utes in the absence of the re- gular secretary. The treasurer Mrs. E. Jewell reported the dol- lars and .cents as a result of the July wedding and the fair booth which swelled the finan- ces. Mrs. B. Smith discovered 60 visits had been made. A housecleaning bee for church kitchen was booked for Sept. 28th. Mrs. Pugh the care- taker was given authority to purchase two utility pails. The discussion of the annual turkey dinner was next on the agenda. The date chosen is this coming Friday, Oct. 1st. Com- mittee for same Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Heayn and Mrs. Snelgrove. Bazaar talk is in the air but no official plans to date. Prior to the last hymn a minute of silence was observed in memory of a deceased mem- ber Mrs. E. Martyn. A dainty lunch was served by Mrs. G. Hunter and Mrs. W. Heayn. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Middleton in company of others enjoyed the week-end in Montreal with former village folk Mr. & Mrs. H. Morris. Chambers joying cottage life at the "Old Mill" near Carnarvon. Mr. and Mrs. A. Snelgrovve, Sarnia, spent the week-end with their cousins Mr. and Mrs. B. Snelgroves. Mr. and Mrs. N. Wilson and Bruce enjoyed a few days at the cottage of her brother Mr. and Mrs. G. Miller in Orillia dist- rict. Mr. and Mrs. W. Webb, Hali- burton visited her father Mr. Alvin Hunter and the rest of comunity relatives. Mr. and Mrs. W. Bond, Tor- onto enjoyed a holiday with his sister Mrs. C. Luke and other relations. Mr. Bruce Martyn, who has returned to his second year of studies at Waterloo University was home for the week-end and visited hisdad in the hospital. Mr. J. F. Vickery accompan- ied his daughter Mr. and Mrs. meeting friends, Mr. & Mrs. Wilbert Archer Celebrate Golden Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Archer were guests of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Archer, Bowmanville, Saturday, September 11th. On their returning home they were stopped by their son Elmer and grandson Ronald, who ushered them into the Community Hall, where approximately pne hun- dred, relatives, friends and neighbours had gathered to greet them on their 50th wed- ding anniversary. Florence Vincent and Wilbert Archer were married in In- goldsby Methodist Church, Min- den Township, September 8th, 1915 by Rev. T. A. Carmichael. Their granddaughter Marilyn Archer pinned a corsage and buttonaire on the happy couple who then spent an hour or so several of whom had been at the wedding fifty years ago. Some of the gathering enjoy- ed a game or two of cards, others were renewing acquaint- ances. Mrs. Elmer Archer and son! Jim presided at the guest book. | Rev. P. Romeril called the] gathering to order and invited the Bride and groom of 50 yrs., their bridesmaid, Mrs. Will Du- gan, Minden and her husband, (as the groomsman is deceased) to seats at the front of the hall, and with a few remarks ex- tended the congratulations and good wishes of all and asked thein to accept the gifts. At the proper time the curtain on the stage opened showing a space saver couch, golden wedding cups and saucers and a sum of money from the Community. A tri-light, gift from their two sons and families. The couple expressed their thanks. A bountiful lunch top- ped_ with both white cake and wedding cake brought a pleas- ant evening to a close.
