Mrs. Margaret Sparks left on Friday to spend a month with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Porter and family in Winnipeg, Man. Mr .and Mrs. Alfred Fisher, 'Miss Margaret Fisher and friend spent Thanksgiving week end with Mr, and Mrs. Frank Mitchell, at Deep River. Mrs. Nellie Wilson, of Locust Hill was a Tuesday visitor with Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Ashton. Misses Mary Heron; Diane Fisher and Sharon Hopkins; Messrs. Ross Baten, Anthony Emm and James Daw attended the Young People's Convention held in Glenview Presbyterian Church - Toronto during the holiday week-end. Fairley -of Kirk- field delivered two inspiring messages to the congregations at Burn's Church anniversary services on Sunday, Oct. 17th at 11 a.m. and 7.80 p.m. Mrs. Fairley as soloist in the morn- ing sang "There's not a thing that God can't do", and "How can I help but sing". The choir sang as their anthem "Song of Praise." Mrs. Wm. Reid as soloist in the evening sang "Show me my Task", & "Close to Thee". The choir sang "Oh Sing Unto the Lord". There will be no, service in our church on Sunday, Oct. 24, owing to annlver8aty service in St. John's Presbyterian church, Port Perry. Millbrook And Cartwright Hold Track & Field Meet Schools was held at Blackstock day was marked by very keen competition in all categories. When the final tally was made; Cartwright proved to have the stronger team -- winning the trophy with a total of 311% points with the Millbrook team a close second with 29914 pts. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Em- prinham accompanied by Mrs. Don McKean atended the Scar- borough Junction United Church re-union supper on Friday even- ing of last week. A card party sponsored by the Mothers' Diabetic Associa- tion was held in the Hall on Wednesday evening of last week with eight tables playing. The high prize winners were Mrs. Ernest Till and Mr. Chet Geer; the lows Mrs. Rodd Fos- ter and Mr. Murray Empring- ham. The lucky draw prize, an oven-ready chicken, donated by Mr. Reg. Foster went to Mr. Isaac Catherwood. On Friday evening another party was held in the Hall, this one in honour of the Norman Smith family who are moving Several from here attended service at Proffit of Beaverton was to Uxbridge this week. The first part of the evening was spent in playing a few rounds of euchre, after which Norman, Jean and Carol were invited to occupy seats at the front. Son Dean, who is a student at Queen's University, Kingston, was unable to be present but was not forgotten and shared in the presentation. Amn address of appreciation and good wishes was read by Mr. Geo. Beare, after which many lovely & use- ful gifts were presented to the guests of honour. All made suitable replies sincerely thank- ing their many Greenbank friends for their kindness and extending an invitation to everyone to visit them in their new home. During their nine- teen years here the Smiths have always been willing and effi- cient workers in all church and community activities. We are sorry to lose them but our best wishes go with them. The evening was concluded in the usual maner, by the serv- ing of a bountiful lunch. As we bid farewell to the Smith family we extend a sin. cere welcome to Mr .and Mrs. Stuart Diceman and family of Maple who have purchased the Smith farm and are taking pos- session this week. Mrs. Roy Leask and Mrs. Geo. Beaton visited Mrs. Fred Dure and Mrs. Pearl Phoenix and other friends at Fairview Lodge on Tuesday of last week. Congratulations to Mr. Jas. Lee on winning several prizes at the North Ont. South Ont. and International Plowing Mat- ches, also to Mr. J. Couperth- waite on being successful at Milliken. A large crowd attended the stock and implement sale be- longing to Mr. Norman Smith last Tuesday. The ladies of the local W.I. served lunch.
