Greenbank News King Winter introduced him- self to us last Wednesday in a very boisterous manner, one we didn't exactly appreciate. This big blow resulted in much in- convenience and many accidents but the school youngsters were - happy, they got some holidays out of it. Having servived the recent power blackout and now this, what may we ask comes next? Our minister, Rev. Harris was among the victims of the storm. On his way home from Presbytery meeting he was in- volved in an accident at Saint. field and fortunately escaped in- jury although his car was dam- aged. Miss Linda Stone who is at- tending Victoria University spent the week-end at her home Miss Beatrice Lee and Miss Doris McLeod of Wick are en- joying a holiday in Nassau. Mr. Russell Hill, one of ga party of five, spent a week hunting in the Parry Sound area. They just bagged one deer but had a grand time. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Bob Snoddon of Valentia on the birth of a baby boy. Mr. Cecil Leask has returned from a pleasant holiday at the home of his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Leask of Oakville. The second euchre party of the season was held last Fri- day evening with a good at- tendance, eleven tables. High score for the ladies was won by Mrs. John Cook, low went to Mrs. Evelyn Tait. High man was John Cook, low Geo. Mat- thews. Murray Empringham was winner of the lucky draw prize. Proceeds from these parties all go twoards the Hall Fund. In a letter from a resi- dent of a nearby town refer- ence was made to the ambitious Centennial project being work- ed on by the people of Green- bank. This of course is the moving and renovation of the Community Hall and while as yet little progress has been made the programme is under way and with co-operation and perseverance should be success- ful. Sorry to report Mr. Wilmot Phair on the sick list. Hope he |: will soon be feeling better. LADIES CURLING RESULTS Tuesday L. Cook 9 - R. Mitchell 6 I. Mitchell 8 - G. Hunter 3 E. Doyle 8 - M. Another small news budget, Let us blame the weather this time. Our latest community shower took place on Friday evening in the S. S. room to honour newly- weds Rod and Jean (nee Bright) Barbour. Mr. Roy Scott act- ing as master of ceremonies was in his usual happy mood and even promised he would again act when our perennial bachelors Bill Pearson and Clar- ence O'Neill took the plunge. The program was short and consisted of community singing with Mrs, Tobin in her usual place, a reading by Mrs. Hurst and an instrumental by Sylvia Wanamaker. After calling the young couple to the front, Roy read an address and Misses Marilyn McMillan and Sylvia Wanamaker helped with the many gifts. Rod and Jean both thanked everyone for their kindness and lunch was served. Rev. D. Harris officiated on Saturday afternoon at the mar- riage of Miss Betty Marquis, LERMAN SPR SU ALAN £4 , " h \ old A I - madied dil ld gg £0 SEAGRAVE NEWS daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Marquis, & Mr. Thomas Thomp- son of Little Britain. Henderson has been having his annual holiday at the Royal Winter Fair and intends to hang around for the Grey Cup celebrations. Miss Caroline Hurst tried examinations for a hair dress- ing diploma on Monday, using Mrs. Barbour as her model. She will not know the results for some time. In October we reported, "Be- PORT PERRY STAR, Thursday, Nov. 25, 1965-11 | Hove it or not Doug McMillan says he is retiring from active sports". Apparently we are "not" \to believe it. McMillan with Little Bri- tain Jrs., Bill Wanamaker with Port Perry Midgets, and Neil Wanamaker with a G.M. office team. While 84 members of S. 8. looked on, seven little ladies il a flannelgraph presenta- tion of the story of Zacchaeus, as their part of the service. Joyce Bruce read the story while 6 others (Janet Abraham, Diane Barr, Frannie Watts, Debbie Drinkwalter, Carol Im- rie) made the picture. Then Bonnie Short sang a little song about Zacchaeus.
