Mrs. R. Davey spent Friday in Lindsay. A large number of people ga- thered in the school auditorium on Friday evening, including relatives, neighbours & friends of Burketon, Cartwright and Enniskillen for Mr. and Mrs. B. Hubbard and Pinky (Alden) who have taken up residence in Bow- manville. The Hubbard family will be missed from this com- munity. Pinky. our general merchant has served customers for the past 18 years. Pinky has been a very active member of Burketon United Church. The Hubbard family received a set of Luggage, Picture and a Bath- room set, which were very beau- tiful. Mr. and Mrs. B. Hubbard and Pinky expressed their sin- cere thanks to all who helped to mak it a very enjoyable even- ing. Mr. and Mrs. B. Hubbard and Pinky invited everyone to come and visit them at 6 Alexander Blvd., Bowmanville. After the program a very dainty lunch was provided by the ladies. Everyone joined in singing "Old Lang Syne", which brought an enjoyable evening to a close. MZ ahd Mus. L. R. Argue visited with relatives in Toronto on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Trick, Lindsay accompanied by Mr. & Mrs. G. Bowers, Nestleton to spend Christmas in Florida. Mr. D. Dynard had the mis- fortune to fall, breaking his ankle on Sunday. Johnson, a post-gradu- ate History student at Univer- sity of Toronto, will write a "History of the County of Ont- ario", Mr. Johnson, who has done a similar History for Vaughan Township, wil be paid $5,000 for the work.
