The Senior Choir of thirty- five voices presented the Can- tata "The Celestial Visitor" by Noble Cain. The narrating was in the capable hands of the Reverend Mr. Rice and the solo parts were taken by Mrs. W. G. Sharpe; Mrs. Allan Rahm; Mrs, Howard Hall; Mrs. Ronald Gib- gon; Miss Barbara Taylor; Miss Lexie Love and Mr. Charles & ace Obituary CLARENCE JAMES PARR Following an illness of four weeks, the death of Clarence . James Parr, occurred in Mem- orial Hospital, Bowmanville, on Saturday, December 18, 1965. He was in his 76th year. Son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Ann Parr, the de- ceased was born in Cartwright township, near Cadmus. September 14th, 1921, he was united in marriage with Mary Isabella Fair, and together they farmed on the homestead until October 1943, when they moved to Bowmanville. Here he lived a semi-retired life, doing carp- entry work part time, Mr. Parr was a member of Black- stock Anglican Church. His wife predeceased him in April, 1944, also a sister Flora fn Jan. 1939. He is survived by one sister Miss Eva Parr, of Blackstock. The funeral service was held Monday, December 20 from Northcutt-Smith Funeral Chapel and was conducted by Canon H. E. Ashmore of Blackstock, * Interment was, in St. John's Anglican Cemetéty, Cartwright, Pall-bearers were Marwood McKee, Oscar McQuade, Harry McLaughlin, Neil Bailey, Frank Jamieson, and Nelson Wilkins. Among the many beautiful floral tokens was one from tho Champlain Telephone Pioneer's Club, Oshawa, of which Miss Eva Parr is a member, Hastings, The impressive story, inter- spersed with the dulcet tones of the choir in presenting choruses, | solos and trios, made the musi- cal programme an inspirational message to all the congrega- tion, The Church Chancel was suit- ably decorated for the special services and was centred around the theme of the Cantata. The Madonna and Child held the honoured place over the Altar and was flanked on both sides by the three wise men bearing their gifts of Frankincense and Myrrh and the shepherds and their sheep, following the Star in the East. The Church was filled to ca- pacity to hear the outstanding presentation which was under the direction of Mrs. Frank Hastings. While the congregation dis- persed the beautiful melodies of Mendelsohn was played in duett form by Miss Gloria Has- tings at the organ and Mr. Glenn Taylor presiding at the piano. Starting off the year 1966, Mr. Rice was in charge of the special New Year Services. The reception of New Members and the Sacrament of Holy Com- munion will be held on January 16th, The Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, January 24 and all officers are requested to have their reports in not later than January 9th. The Sacra- ment of Infant Baptism will be held on Sunday, January 30th. The afternoon of Mon,, Dec. 20th was indeed a busy one. The Junior, Intermediate, and Senior boys' basketball teams travelled to Anderson St. High, Whitby, for exhibition games. They were accompanied by Mr. Burt's wrestling team. The In- termediates and Seniors were defeated (43-17) and (51-29) respectively; however, the Jun- iors won a very exciting game (19-18). Coach Neigh comment- ed on "Team aggressiveness and Reg Foster's good foul shooting in the clutch". Outstanding performances were handed in by team captain Gord William- son, Mike Bell, and Reg Foster. Mr. Burt's team won in overall point standings, (87-22). The entire team is to be congratu- lated on its tremendous effort.
