JOHNSON A farmer in Brock Township for more than 30 years, Edgar Robson Johnson, of Sunderland, died Jan. 23, at the Brier Bush Hospital, Stouffville. He was in his 91st year. A son of the late Mr, and Mrs. James Johnson, the de- ceased was born in Reach Town- ship. He farmed in Brock Township from 1914 until he retired to Sunderland in 1945. Mr. Johnson was a devoted member of Pinedale United Church where he--tas superin- tendent of the Sunday School for 25 years, He was later a member of the session of Sun- derland United Church, Mr. Johnson was predeceased by two wives, the former Mary Reesor and Lois Shier, and is survived by his third wife, the former Alice Reesor; three daughters, Mrs, Lorne Snoddon (Marion) of Lindsay, Mrs. Fred Wilson (Reta) and Mrs. Bruce Sonley (Lila) of Oshawa and two sons, Walter of Oshawa and Reg of Sunderland. Also surviving are a sister, Miss Etta Johnson of Oshawa; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Dr. Lloyd White of Toronto con- tinues to send the librarian beautiful books from his per- sonal collection, Mrs. Ingram states that she has been assisted by Miss Enid Wallace of the Oshawa Public Library in the recent culling of old books. Preparations are being made for the setting up of a catalogue system in the Port Perry Lib- rary in the near future, The Children's Librarian, Mrs. Edna Jackson reports that her department circulated 17,941 books last year, There were 877 new books purchased for the children in 1965. In addi- tion Mrs. Jackson received a total of 120 gift volumes. Both librarians received over a hundred dollars in fines.
