Blacksto By 0, Hill Monday, January 81st, Here we are, all snowed in and it is still snowing and blowing. Fill- ing in faster than snow plows can clear the roads. No school as buses unable to get through. Although it was snowing heavily Sunday morning servi- ces in both churches were well attended. By time services were over it was blowing hard and visibility very bad, but as far as we know all got home safely. Those who. were spending the week-end at their homes were not so fortunate. Those we have heard of being still storm stayed are -- Jim Byers of Kemptville; Misses Mable Van Camp and Linda Venning and Mr, and Mrs. Bev. Dealy of Toronto; Miss Elaine Mountjoy and Paul Rahm of Peterboro, A good number from this area either visited at the Par- lours Friday or attended the funeral of Mrs, Leslie Graham in Mi'lbrook Saturday. Very softy to report the home of Mr. and Mrs. /A.\C. Hoftyzer and family (two miles South and two miles West of Blakstock) was completely de- molished by fire Friday morn- ing. The furnace exploded. The occupants were fortunate in getting out with just the clothes they were wearing while sitting Local Midgets Clip Uxbridge Lead Series 1-0 Port Perry Midgets travelled to Uxbridge last Friday night for the first game of the best of three play-off series . After playing one period and all but 40 seconds of the second a transformer was blown and with Port Perry leading 2-1 the game had to be discontinued and will be finished at a later date, The second game of the series was played in Port Perry on Monday of this week and saw the Port Perry boys victorious with a 6-4 count. The local lads played good fast hockey and dominated the play throughout most of the game, Stephens opened the scoring for Port Perry at the 2 minute mark of the first after picking up a beautiful pass from Craw- ford, Their lead was short lived as Geer and Morrison com- bined at 8.46 to tie the score for Uxbridge. John McMaster put Port out in front again at the 11.833 mark when he took a corner pass from Stephens to the point and with a hard slap shot caught the top corner of the net. Port Perry picked the only tally in a close checking second period to give them a 3-1 lead going into the third, Stephens picked up the single for Port. Getting off to a fast start Port picked up two quick goals by Crawford and Stephens (his Hat Trick) before Uxbridge got on. the scoreboard, Uxbridge! bounced right back at 3.45 and 6.32 on goals by Cordingley and Van Veghel, leaving Port with a 5-3 lead. Each team picked up one more tally before the final whistle, Rick Beare for Port Perry at 13.27 and Lang- staff for Uxbridge at 18,37, Next game will be in Ux- bridge this Friday evening starting at 8 pm. ck News|" at breakfast. Mrs. Neil Malcolm showed slides of local interest.
