It was decided to have a pot luck supper at 6 p.m. a short business session was con- ducted by Mrs. Chapman, pre- sident. A delicious supper was served over fifty attending. Some were unable to enjoy this get together, as duty called elsewhere -- Rebekah's went by bus to Orono that evening, -- sorry to miss the pictures put on by Mr. Buckland after the short meeting, He has travelled a lot in different countries and his films are a delight to us all. Pictures were shown of Norway, also many lovely Ab- bey's and Cathedrals of Eng- land, the architecture is wonder- ful and date back hundreds of years, and are only to be seen in these historical countries. To many it brings back memories of years ago, as cities in Eng- land and other countries. Good reports were given of the en- joyable evening & many thanks to all who made it possible and also to Mr. Buckland. Our deepest sympathy is ex- "tended to Mrs. O. Stone in the loss of her husband, also to his family, Mn. Stone was a faith- ful member of our Club and we do miss them, as one by one they pass on. Next meeting Wed., March 10 at 2 pm. Next euchre at Hall March 5th at 8.30 p.m. Useful prizes and lunch served to top off the evening. Sat., Feb. 9th there was as usual much acti- vity at the Hall again. The usual (once in two weeks) eu- chre. 17 tables were set up. A dainty lunch was served and a hearty welcome to everyone, Strangers are still coming from far and near, also our faithful friends from Oshawa, which help so much in making these euchres a success. Local Boy Scout Mothers To See Movie In Toronto Mrs. Ray Litt kindly- offered her home for the February meeting of the Boy Scout Mo- thers' Auxiliary and fifteen ladies were in attendance, The meeting opened with the President, Mrs. Charles Reesor, reading a valentine verse ap- propriate to the occasion, after which all repeated the Scout Mothers' promise. Mrs. Leonard. Clark, a dele- gate to the Fall Conference in Toronto, gave an illustrated talk on "The Conference Box" by Mrs. J. G. Hamilton, which was very interesting and en- joyed by all. It was decided to -charter a bus to take us to the Eglinton Theatre in Toronto to see "The Sound of Music," on March 14. We aye fortunate in being al- lowed a spécial group price to see the show and $3.50 each will cover return bus fare and the theatre ticket. The bus will 'leave at 6.15 p.m. sharp from opposite the I.G.A. Store. Hus- bands are also invited to ac- company their wives and if there are sufficient tickets, any one else interested in seeing "The Sound of Music" is wel- come. For tickets, please phone Mrs, Charles Reesor, 2326, Mrs. Orten Michie 2207 or Mrs, John Jefford 2314. The meeting closed with the Scout Mizpah and the ladies then enjoyed a social half-hour. Davis, Minister of Education, has appointed a Committee to study the Program for Religious Education in the Public Schools of Ontario. This Committee will examine and evaluate the present program, receive repre- sentations from all interested bodies about the effectiveness, and desirability of the program, consider suggestions for changes and improvement, study means by which character building, ethics, social attitudes and moral values and ptin- ciples may best be instilled in the young, consider the respon- sibility of the Public Schools in these matters, and make recommendatigms for the information and consideration of the Minister. Individuals and organizations are invited to submit views, comments and proposals for the consideration of the Com- mittee. Information about the presentation of submissions, briefs and the like may be secured by writing to: Dr. J. R. McCarthy, Secretary, Committee on Religious Education in the Public Schools, Suite 700, 481 University Avenue, Toronto 2, Ontario. Hearings for the presentation of briefs will be scheduled by the Committee. Application to appear before the Committee should be made at the time thd brief is submitted. J. Stephn Gardner who has been in Toronto General Hospi- tal for several weeks was at his home on Sunday and we are pleased to report Stephen mak- ing satisfactory progress.
