When the firemen atrived a chicken house on the farm of Mr. Hugh Strong was burning fier- ecly inside, and the 300 five weeks old chickens were lost in the flames. Coun- cils and member of the two School Boards of the Township of Scugog and the Village of Port Perry were in full attend- ance. Chairman for the even- ing was Mr, Peter Wiseman, In- spector for the Department of Education for this area, The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the recent de- cision of the Scugog Township School Board to join with Port Perry School Board, and the various problems arising there- from. Mr. Wiseman reminded the meeting of the decision made by the Scugog Board at the Ontario County Consultative Committee meeting held .on February 2nd, and recited the portion of the Public Schools Act which governed such amal- gamation.
