Mr, and Mrs, Harvey Dobson, Mrs. Aletha Holtby and Mrs. Maude Crosier attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Bruce Robertson at Lindsay on Satur- day. Mrs. Robertson formerly Miss Elizabeth Lakey of Man- chester. Mrs. John Stewart and son visited last Wednesday with the former's sister, Mrs. Hamen Bennett and Mr, Bennett at Sparrow Lake. Migs Eunice Roach and friend of Toronto were with her par- ents over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs, R, Barfoot, Tor- onto were guests of Mr, & Mrs. A. E. Roach and Susan on Sun- day. The March meeting of the U.C.W. was held at Aletha Holt- by's last Thursday afternoon, Hymn "I love to tell the story" was used to open the meeting. Mrs. Meta Holtby read the les- son and Mrs. Jo. Bain gave the topic on "Love", Mrs. Ale- tha Holtby gave a. reading "Folks need a lot of loving". In the absence of Pres. Mrs. Crox- << < Perry proyided that the said business dmply with regula- tions of the Ontario County Health Unit and Corporation building by-laws and further when sewers are available that permission be granted to them to include a laundromat also to be governed by Health Unit and Corporation by-laws. News all, Mrs. Ethel Franklin presid- ed for the business meeting, ex- tending a welcome to all and thanks to Aletha for the use of her home. Nineteen members answered the roll and two new members were added, Mrs. Irene Lamb and Mrs. Ruby Peyton, Mrs. Meta Holtby acted as secretary in the absence of Mrs. Toombs, The minutes of pre- vious meeting were adopted as read. It was decided to pack the bale of clothing Tuesday, April 2th, Treasurer Mrs. Gwen Lamb gave a good finan- cial report. Fifty-six dollars & fifteen cents was realized from last months project, a Valentine Tea, Mrs. Johnston presented the hospital report and a dis- cussion arose re our contribu- tion of help for the Spring Fair to be held May 28th. The meeting closed with theme and prayer by Rev. Mr, Tekey. Col- lection $6.60. The April meeting will be at Mrs. Harvey Dob- son's. Mrs. Aletha Holtby con- ducted a contest, which Mrs, Viola Johnston won. Mrs. Holtby and co-hostess Mrs. Bain served a delicious lunch. A beautiful decorated birthday cake with candles in honor of Mrs. Dobson and this was accompanied by ice cream. Miss Barbara Best spent the week-end with Miss Debby La Rogue, Cedar Creek. Mr. Everett was in Montreal on the week-end and saw the Montreal - Oshawa Generals hockey game. Mr, and Mrs. Walter Nelson and daughter Audrey of Apps- ley were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs, Lawrence Best and family. Sorry to report that Clayton Midgley is a patient in Port Perry Hospital.
