J. J. Mellor officiat-' Saturday, February 2, 1966 a very large crowd gathered in the Recreation Centre Blackstock to celebrate their 50th _anniver- sary. After congratulations to the happy couple and a social hour their eldest grand daughten Valeri Faint called the comp- any to order and led a hearty sing song, Mr. Ransberry, Orono was M.C. for the remainder of the evening . Dancing was enjoyed for an hour with music supplied by the Clara Nesbitt orchestra and Mr. Ransberry calling the squares, after which Mr. and Mrs. Wright were invited to chairs on the platform, also Mr. Rupert Byers of Bowman- ville, who gave a short humor- ous talk and asked them to ac- cept the numerous gifts on dis- play. Both Mr. and Mrs. Wright expressed their appre. ciation, Mr. Alex Carruthers, M.P.P. of Garden Hill and Mr. Garnet Rickard, Bowmanville gave brief speeches of congratula- Among the gifts were wrist watches from their immediate family. A sunburst wall clock from the Wright brothers and sisters; an electric blanket from the Forder families. The com- munity cousins and friends gave a card table and chairs; a purse and wallet; a pole lamp; a set of stainless steel cookware; a gold trimmed china tea pot, cream and sugar; an aluminum tray and many other individual miscellaneous gifts, also over 100 cards. "Mr. and Mrs. Wright have three children, Mrs. Goldwin Faint -(Lula), Mrs, David Fair- thorne (Edith), both of Toronto and Frank of Bowmanville and nine grand children. Telgrams were received from Governor General and Madame Vanier; Prime Minister and Mrs. Lester Pearson; Honour- able John Robarts and a plaque from the Ontario Government. A telegram was received from the only grandchild not present | Miss Beverley Wright of Regina Sask. A bountiful lunch topped with wedding cake, brought a very | pleasant evening to a close.
