The tender of H. M. Brooks Ltd. of Oshawa in an amount of $2,312,536.00 was accepted by the Board. This price was within 10% of the estimated cost of the Department of Education and can be accepted if within this variance. This will necessitate the issuing of debentures in an . amount of $957,120.00 to finance the Board's share. Approval of the Municipalities in the High School Area is now being requested, when this and approval of the Ontario Municipal Board is obtained, work can commence. The remainder of the project is being paid for by the : Federal and Provincial Governments. The total cost in- cluding fees and equipment will be $2,776,488.00. Subject of the films were "Hawaii Calls" and "Tahiti," The dinner, which was pre- pared and served by the ladies of the Eastern Star was most enjoyable. A record attendance xmas trees were placed along the main street. The tourist committee report- ed over 300 brochures sent out. A tourist information booth was suggested. Four new members were ap- pointed to the executive, Ken Dowson, George Pentland, Gor. don Carnegie and Glen Van Camp. This year will mark the 10th anniversary of the Chamber.
