SEAGRAVE NEWS The best attended event of this week was a community shower on Friday evening in honour of Miss Donna Downey, Oshawa and our Mr, Jim Fish- ley. The S. S. room was filled with well-wishers when Glenn Wanamaker took his place as chairman and started the even- ing with a round of community singing with Mrs, Tobin in her usual place. The short program consisted of a duet by Sharyn Short and Marilyn McMillan, a piano instrumental by Nancy Wanamaker and a series of jokes by Morley Bruce. After an address was read the couple opened their many nice gifts, "Thank-yous" were said and lunch served. Only 6 of Seagrave teen-agers were able to attend the special Young People's meeting at Pinedale on Wednesday evening. The highlight of the gathering was a debate on the subject-- 'Resolved that it was easier to be a christian when Christ was on earth than it is now". Those present were divided into groups which presented the affirmat- tive and negative views, The result of the debate was de- clared a tie. The remainder of the evening was spent ir play- ing crokinole and eating lunch served by Pinedale members. Mrs. Reg. Abraham had a successful Tupperware demon- stration at her home on Thurs. evening, Hospital reports indicate that Mr. Clarence O'Neill and Mrs, A. Sleep have been discharged but that Mr, Cliff Harper still remains. Another of our friends, Mrs, Clayton Hallett is now recovering from surgery performed the end of the week. Also we must report that Mrs. Jack MacTaggart is now on crutches and expects to go to Toronto this week to have a painful knee ailment corrected. We still have some cases of flu, mumps and chicken-pox. Mr. and Mrs, Roy Scott ac- companied by Mrs. W. Clarke, Little Britain, journeyed to Pe- terboro on Wednesday to help celebrate the 90th birthday of their aunt Mrs, John Scott. On Tuesday, Mrs. Fred Jen- nings of Toronto paid a visit to our village and called on the Keens, the MacTaggarts, the Aubrey Moons and Mrs. Grose, Jim and Roy Gerrow of Scu- gog spent Wednesday with their friend Clifford Moon and their parents Mr. and Mrs, Don Ger- row joined them at the Moon home in the evening.
