Over one hundred and fifty guests attended this outstand: ing event during the two after noons and were amazed at the accomplishments and talent shown by these young students, The hall was entirely trans- formed by. tastefully arranged settings and display boards which -made attractive back: grounds for the works of art." Mrs. Wallace, with the assist- ance of several of the mothers. received the guests and accom- panied them on the tour of in- spection, The guest book was in hate of Miss Diane Wallace and the delightful flower arrangement of huge Chrysanthemums grac ing the table at the entrance was presented to Mrs. Wallace by her pupils, a token of ap- preciation for her untiring ef- forts and encouragement in making this first art show such a worthwhile endeavour, A variety of subjects were depicted, including animal paint: still life, copies of the works of great painters, some originals, along with a few ab- stracts and impressions. One of the exhibits that took the eye was the Pallette Pat- terns made by the 'students from surplus paints, which showed outstanding ingenuity and imagination. Each example was suitably titled, and caused a great deal of discussion and interest. : Tt was a pleasant inspiration to all to see the wonderful re- sults obtained by these talented young artists in such a short time. During the show several of the students displayed their hidden talents and technique by demonstrating the procedure of painting and were: also quite proud to show their parents and Quite a number of exhibits were on display as each pupil was allowed to show . several pieces of art. Worthy of note .,among the originals was the painting of "Boots", the "Coast- al Town"; the "Mountain Scene'; "Together Again"; the "Gondola in Venice" and the Various Horses and Wild Ani- mal Scenes. The painters represented were: John Draper; Julian Dia- mond; Sandra and Sonja Enge; | Mary Lynn Holtby; Lori Mark; David and Andrew Litt; Janice & David Pentland; Larry Ree- sor; Peter Vernon and Darcy Wallace. It is interesting to report that Mrs .Wallace has received an | invitation from the McLaughlin Library, of Oshawa to display some of her pupils' work, Sev- eral paintings will be exhibited in the Children's Department of the Library dering the next few _g weeks. The enthusiastic response from the people of the commun- ity in attending this first art show is ample proof of the all- out support given to Mrs, Wal- lace who has endeavoured to instruct and teach her pupils so capably during the . past few months. It is hoped that this will be an annual event, Guests from out of town were present from Toronto, court, Peterborough; Green- bank; Uxbridge; Oshawa; Utica and Manchester.
