A SARANTEN FY Thursday, June 23rd, 1966 Port Perry Bantams Win 3 Games In Peterboro On Sat,, Jung 18th the, Port Perry Lions Club Bantams started their season by winning a Tournament in Belleville. This was a point system tour- nament, Port Perry winning 8 out of 4 games, The first game was played against Peterborough at 12.00 o'clock. The local boys lost 4-1, The next three were consecu- tive games starting at 3.80 p.m, and subsiding at 7.30 p.m. Scores of these games were as follows: 2nd game Port Perry 16, Belleville 0; 3rd game Pt Perry 10, Marmora 5; 4th game Port Perry 10, Peterborough 3. These games were played with 'great team effort with each boy playing like pros. The team made five - most spectacular double plays during the four games, The highlight of the Tourna- ment was at the closing when the Port Perry team was pre- sented with the Championship Trophy and crest, Also the most valuable player trophy was awarded to Gene Hurst of Port Perry. Two Bands Will Take Part In Booster Night Parade The Port Perry and District Minor Softball- Assoc. will stage their fourth annual Parade and ~ Booster Night on Sat., June 25. * The parade will form at the High School grounds at 5.30 p.m, and will move on down Queen St. at 6 p.m, sharp. It should be noted all boys and girls should report to the High School about 5.30. The parade will be lined up as follows; Police Dept. car; Convertible carrying Town and 0.A.S.A, officials; Caladonia Pipe Band from Oshawa; Port Perry Legion members; Port Perry Legion Squirts; Squirt House League teams; Archer Motors; Ideal Dairy; Goodwood _ Greenbank; Scugog Island and Cartwright; Hope's IG.A. Pee Wees; Pee Wee House League with teams from Goodwood; 'Greenbank; Cartwright; Jack- sons Appliances and Emmer- sons Insurance. At this point the parade will have the second band, the Ajax Girls Pipe Band; followed by the Tyke house league; Lions Club Bantams; Bantam House Lea- gue 'with teams from Utica; Greenbank and Mersco Store; (® Girls House league with the following teams Cartwright; Scugog Island; Legion Girly and Merchants; Ballard Lumber Midgets; Tripps Const, Juven- iles and decorated vehicles from -loeal-merchants. This year the parade will also feature four clowns so the young boys and girls should watch for them, Any merchants who would like to put in a float or vehicle can do so if they contact Pres. Bill Harper. At the ball park three short games will be played after the opening ceremonies, followed by the main attraction East Gwil- liambury Juveniles vs. Port Perry Tripps Const, Juveniles. The fans will be eligible to win the draw prizes for a transistor radio and a lawn chair while some youngster who sells ' the most Booster 'tickets will win a pair of tickets to see the Beatles, All in all a good might's en- tertainment is in store for the local people and the support given to this night will help the local softball men 'to continue the softball programme for an- other year.
