Club ended their year when the members gathered at the "Spruce Villa", Whitby for the annual banquet. "Talk about array of sumptuous food" --as a result all present forgot - about-their diets and waistlines. |: The club will resume regular meetings in the fall. On Monday a few of the Club members assembled at the Area No. 1 school grounds where the student body stood at attention in company with teaching staff and Principal Mrs, Dobson as lady. The president of the Club, Mrs, Pugh explained their annual project and pre- sented the bars to the following pupils (Each bar is placed on. the large plaque). At this time the unveiling of a picture took place when Mrs. C. Love in a few well-spoken words paid a fitting tribute to a former teacher Mrs, Jean (Earl) Martyn, A teacher who was most conscientious and de- voted person and also interest- ed in the subject of painting. Mrs. Love continued by saying a picture, "Spring Ice", had been purchased in Jean's honour by bearing names of twenty neigh- bours and friends whom she read aloud.- : Amid mixed feelings of many Mrs. L. Beacock presented the framed painting to the princi- pal, "Mrs. Ailene. Dobson who graciously accepted the gift which' will be in view in the school hall in memory of Mrs. Martyn. ..Mrs, . Chas, . Willes recently- cutertalted a few ladies in her home to a shower in honour of a prospective bride Miss Dianne Fralick. Last Sunday' afternoon our church organist Mrs. Snelgrove assisted by her husband Bruce entertained tre choir members; their parents or family to "Tay- lor"s Park", Greenbank. It be- ing an extremely hot day, all park facilities were in use, At 5 o'clock -all enjoyed the good, food and general visiting.
