. SN %y MACKEY & BAILEY : 6 - PORT PERRY STAR -- THURSDAY, NOV. 24, 1966 If you happen to see Mary Ross going around town with a thick lip these days, don't get the idea she has been fighting with anyone, - She slipped on a highly po- lished floor and bashed her knee, hip, the side of her face and just missed break- ing her glasses. However, Mary is made of pretty good stuff. She bounced right up again and was back on the job in a few minutes, shak- ing a little apd swelling a little but still on the go. Last week, Meadowcrest Home & School Association heard a talk from Mrs, Iso- bel Leburdais, champion of the Steven Truscott case, Two hundred and fifty peo- ple turned out to listen. Mrs, Jean Hollingsworth made the preparations for the author- ess to attend the meeting. When foH® asked Jean how she managed to arrange this plumb, she said it was sim-« ple. . "I just lifted the re- ceiver of the phone, called Mrs. Lebourdais and asked her'. "One of the men in this area, who managed to get away for a week's. hunting this year, tramped the bush and braved BROOKLIN NEWS the cold and returned home ex- hausted fully convinced that all the deer had been cleared out of the country. He was turning in the driveway of his farm and there in the head- lights of his car stood a start- led buck. How does that old song go? 'Back home in your own back yard'. The United Church Women's -General Monthly Meeting had its program under the direction of Mrs. R. Hodson, convenor of Christian Citizenship and So- cial Action. Special guest speaker for the occasion was Mrs. Cecil Step of Oshawa, Re- gional Director of Unicef for Oshawa District. Mrs. Hodson also brought along a film fea- turing Danny Kaye. Everyone enjoyed the evening immense- ly. It seems with all the educa- tion the youngstef® are getting these days, almost everybody's offspring will turn out to be leaders. It may even get to the point where the minority that are left will be so busy picking out a boss, they won't have time to do any work. Check The Label On Your Paper RA Ld 55 ge . h, & en ¥.
