It seems the peo- ple in that area have very small incomes and there just isn't enough money for anything other than mere existance. This is a situation right here in Can- ada, a country noted for being one of the richest in the world. I wonder if we took time to look around us, especially at this time of the year, perhaps ~ we might find families, prac- tically on our door-steps, who are in the same predicement. Many people go on day by day just existing and have no- thing more. Wouldn't it be wonderful to lend a helping hand to someone we know per- sonally. This would truly be Christmas Spirit. Are you one of those people who never cease to marvel at the people ®ho are always on time? Especially since you can't make it yourself. They must have some magic formula. It isn't just because they start early. Lots of folks, who know they have the late habit, start extra early, but somehow they still get there last. Do you ever _ .Jnvite a group in for dinner or some special occasion and then find yourself praying that they will be almost ten: or. fifteen minutes late, so you can finish preparing? By the way, next time you are buying a stove, get one without the window in the oven, it's an ideal place to hide dirty dishes if you get caught short. Ayway, let's put in_a word for the poor souls who- are always late. When you dig right into the problem, you'll find 'they usually have so-many things to do and so many places they should be, that their whole day is one con- tinual rush. If people are al- ways busy, they haven't time to get sick or feel afraid about contacting a disease. They haven't time to feel slighted if they don't hear from their ac- quaintances and relatives every N VIEWS day. We're not advising people to be continually late, but just sort of arrive on time and give us tardy folks a break. If you have children and have gone through all the dif: ferent phases with them, kept a watchful eye on- them, hoping the beetle haircuts and the sloppy outfits won't appeal to them, then you know what a wonderful feeling it is, when one day you find they have grown up and chosen an almost perfect partner to spend the is perfect, thank goodness, there isn't anyone harder to live with than a perfectionist. Many couples are getting en- gaged this Christmas and we want to wish the best to all of them. The two we know per- sonally are Cliff Craddock with Bev Hicks and Rod Lamb with Sandy Bowers. We hope they have a Happy Holiday Season, planning for the future. And while we're at it, our condolen- ces to Mr. Sutton, Manager of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Sandy makes the third girl in his office with a ring. It looks like a big staff change one of these days. Ont.
