Fry 3] "x - 4 - PORT PERRY STAR - THURSDAY DEC. 22, 1966 SEAGRAVE NEWS We extend Season's Greetings to the editor, staff, correspond- ents and readers of the Port Perry Star. If our mothers and children were a bit weary at the week- end they will have to be pard- oned, ' First major event, on Wed. evening was the December meeting of the U.C:W. at which there was an attendance of about 60 members and visitors. The business period came first this month and consisted of ac- cepting our M. & M. allocation, re-electing the 1966 officers for next year, and deciding to send Christmas boxes to ~ shut-in members of the community. The devotional was of course, A -~ © I~ m NOIR : 1) (= pls ny 0, ae . } i on the theme of Christmas and was carried through by Mrs. Keen, Mrs, Butt, and Mrs. Fish- ley with a solo by Mrs. Foote. Mrs. Buwalda then gave an ac- count of the celebration of Christmas in her native Holland and sang "Silent Night" in Dutch. For the social part everyone retired to the basenient where there was a Christmas tree and tables set ready for lunch. That was the signal for our supper jinx to begin operating. This time a pan of buns caught fire so the gifts were distributed & the lunch served amid coughs and sneezes. However every- thing ended happily and there were lots more buns. Wishing you a holiday season gleaming 2 with goodness. On Friday evening came the Christmas tree which came off well in spite of the professed nervousness of supt. Neil Wana- maker. Each S. S. class provid- ed a number or numbers which made up a varied program. The humour was chiefly contributed by the Y. P. Class who put on a fashion show. And was it a show! It is quite impossible to describe the different numbers but we. think our young soloists Caroline Imrie, Larry Short and Jimmy Hallett deserve men- tion, Santa arrived from the south instead of the north but was in good form and had lots of gifts to distribute. "That was hardly enough so Santa returned on Sat. after- noon to the Wanamaker store where he handed out candy bags to some 150 excited children. The grocer's daughters-in-law brewed coffee for the exhausted parents. Mr. Glenn Wanamaker slip- ped off to Barrie on Friday ev- ening to be a guest at the Sr. Citizen's Christmas party in the Oddfellows Home there. , . Helping Mr. H. Eagleson to celebrate his 91st birthday on Sunday, Dec. 11th were Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Tristram, their three sons and girl friends of two of the sons, of Toronto, also Mrs. W. R. Tristram of Port Perry. (Rev. W. R. Tristram was in Oshawa Hospital where he un- derwent surgery on Tuesday morning. He is recovering nice- ly). On the actual birth date, Dec. 13th Mr, and Mrs. Eagle- son had dinner with an old friend Mr. Isaiah Irwin at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Grant Bright. Mzs. A. Bruce must have re- covered from her illness. We are gad to report she is home from hospital and planning Christ- mas dinner for 22 guests. Det. Well, they're at it again. Surely they must have meas- ured up and down, back and forth, and over and across, many times this season. Mr. and Mrs. J. Lake and fa- mily of Toronto spent Sunday with the Aubrey Moons. On Sunday afternoon Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Wanamaker rushed the season a little and enter-| tained for the Wanamaker, Christmas dinner. Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. B. L., Mr. and Mrs. Neil and Mr. Bill from around home and Mr. and Mrs. Ron and family of Osh- awa. Unfortunately Miss Syl- via's laryngitis cramped her style somewhat, Mr. and Mrs. E.
