He stated that farmers would like- ly receive the same total num- ber of dollars under the new plan as they receive now from the present plan. There would be more incentive however for the farmer to produce a higher quality product. Since the grad- ing of the hog carcasses would be done in more detail than in the past, he anticipated that the costs involved would be higher, Mr. Clare Curtin, Zone Di- rector, Ontario Hog Producers' Marketing Board, reported on the work by the Board during the year, One of the interest- ing projects this year was a re- search programme carried out in co-operation with the Animal Husbandry Department, Univer- sity of Guelph, and to which: a $12,500. contribution was made. Mr. Ben Steers, Director on the Provincial Hog Producers' Association stated that the Pork Promotion Programme was be: ing carried on again this year with a budget of $33,000. Senior Citi A very good meeting was held at the Club on Wed., Feb. 8th, Sixty-three members an- swered the Roll Call, which shows what an interest our Senior Citizens take in our get togethers, Mrs. M. Cullen chaired the meeting. Enquiries were made of the ill and shut-ins, We are glad to report that Mrs. G. Smith is progressing nicely, but is still in Port Perry hospital. Mrs. B. MacGregor is still on the sick list. Speedy recovery to all is our wishes for the future. O Canada was sung, also as usual Lord's Prayer in unison. A bus load went to Toronto on Feb. 3rd to see Ice Follies at Maple Leaf Gardens. It was a wonderful Show. Cos- tumes were lovely, champion skaters performed their very best, also the Clowns deserved special mention too, as they certainly perform and do clever acts on the ice. We are grate- ful to our Club and those who plan-to take us on-these trips; gives us all something to think about. Arrived home at 10 p.m. maybe tired, but happy after such a nice outing.
