"I have been requested to write Port Perry Council ask- ing for the first instalment of the Library 'grant. We were given to understand that the grant is being increased suffi- ciently to cover the repairs and improvements to the Library building. At this time we would like to thank Council for their consid- eration and prompt action in our request for financial aid. Thanking you, I remain." A motion was passed author- izing the Reeve and Deputy Reeve to attend the Mayors & Reeves Association Convention to be held in Niagara Falls on May 12, 13, 14, 15 and that they be paid travelling expenses, per diem and registration fees. Councillor P. Orde reported on a complaint re parking at corner of Queen and Lilla- ad- jacent to the Gossard factory. Council decided that. a no. "parking sign be installed on the south side of Queen Street a minimum of 40 feet from the corner. Obituary CHARLES WESLEY LUNNEY Following a lengthy illness the death of Charles Wesley Lunney occurred at the Com- munity Memorial Hospital at Port Perry on Thursday morn- ing, March 9th, 1967.< He was in his 73rd year. © Born in Cavan Township near Millbrook, Ont. he was the youngest son of the late Mr.and = Mrs. David Lunney of Sonya. He served with the armed forces in the first World War, afterwards farmed at Sonya and Blackwater. Moving to Saint- field village in 1937 he conduct- ed a drover and trucking busi- ness until the outbreak of the second world war, when he wor- ked in munition plant at Ajax until 1945. "Later he was em- ployed with the Ontario Depart- - ment of Highways until retire- ment in 1961. Surviving are his wife, the former Joanna Watson, one daughter (Diane) Mrs. Larry Mathison of Caesarea, one son Orville of Brougham, Ont., one sister Mrs. Margaret Dainard of Fort William, Ont., séven grand children and two great grand children. The funeral service was held from the McDermott-Panabaker Chapel, Port Perry on Saturday -- +; March 11th, 1967 and was con- ducted by Rev. A. Rice. Inter- ment at McNeill cemetery, Wick. 2 a ~ Pallbearers were nephews Harold Lunney, Merlin Lunney, James McTaggart, Jack Lunney, Lewis McTaggart, Jack 'Finley. Beautiful and numerous were the floral tributes testifyifig the esteem of his many friends.
