With the Saturday weather so fine, the spring bonnets were all on hand. It was a financial success too if all the time and energy expended were not counted. On Sunday it was a different story. A large proportion of the weary women workers failed to make the 10 o'clock E.D.S.T. deadline so attendance at ser- vice was small. For the first time in memory our organist, Mrs. Tobin chickened out sick so Sylvia Wanamaker had to be drafted and there was no an- them. Another sick one, although not hospitalized is Jim Lloyd who is receiving treatment for rhumatic fever and is having a big rest. The Bert Wanamaker family were celebrating again on Sun- day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. B. Greenbank News The Centennial luncheon held last Wednesday in Greenbank Church by the evening unit of the U.C.W. was well attended with some of our guests even in olden day clothes. Following a delicious lunch- eon, served by charming wait- resses all dressed in centennial gowns, Mrs. Ed. Brown of Leaskdale spoke on olden cus- toms, described their project at home, announced their special day arangements to be held on June 10th. Mrs. Sharpe from Port Perry accompanied by Mrs. Hastings favoured us with some lovely solos. A very beautiful parade followed with local la- dies depicting costumes for all occasions dating back 100 yrs., including wedding apparel, flap- pers of the roaring twenties, swimming suits, and night attire with all its accessories. Lucky prizes were . given to Marie Real's mother, Mrs. Charles Phoenix, Mrs. A. McMillan and Mrs. H. Pearson, bringing a very enjoyable afternoon to a close. Special services were held on Sunday in our church under the Afternoon Unit of the U.C.W. with Rev. Jay Story, one of our United Church Missionaries, home on furlough from India, as speaker.
