It was Rogation Sunday in St. John's Church. The Blessing of the Seeds was observed. Rev. Rose spoke on Rogation. Scouts First Cartwright Scout Troop or at least 25 of them joined with other Troops of North East Oshawa District and spent a happy week-end camping at Courtice. Cartwright won the first place Trophy from 15 Pa- trols. Glenn Malcolm's Patrol of Blair Martyn and Bob Swain tied for 3rd place in Troop Competition. A District Leader is to visit thé regular Scout meeting (Tuesday evening) and present these Trophies. Several ladies from this area, "who belong to the Port Perry League attended the Annual" Banquet which was held in the Georgian Motel, Oshawa Wednesday evening. Romeril__ attended Presbytery in Orono Thursday afternoon and evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rahm were Sunday supper guests of Mr. & Mrs. Ross McCann, Oshawa. Miss Barbara Sedgwick, Nor- wood and Mr. Leslie Bushfield, Sarnia, were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Byers, Jim and Janice. District Commissioner Jean Kyte presided. After the Processional Hymn and O Can- ada, the Colours were presented to Rev. Romeril who placed them in their standards. The Brownies, Guides. and Scouts put on a Skluaduiding Through the Years". -- -- Miss Gail Malcolm accom- panied by her brother Barry Malcolm, sang a lovely solo-- "God Who Touchest Earth With Beauty". Rev. Romeril introduced the guest speaker -- Mr. Anson Taylor, Scarboro, Director of Education and a former Cart- wright boy, who gave an im- pressive brief address of con- gratulations to the girls about to receive cords, also their lea- ders and parents and advise for carrying on future work of their lives. Mrs. Kyte expressed the thanks to Mr. Taylor. The Guides to receive Gold Cords namely, Karen Campbell, Bonnie Malcolm and Dianne Taylor were introduced by Ca- dets Nancy Dorrell, Joan Hort- on and Judy Cochrane. Gold Cords were placed by Captain Thompson, Brown Owl Gettins and Brown Owl Turner. Division Commisisoner Ham- ilton presented the Gold Cord Pins. -~ Brownies and Guides prsented each girl with a Book containing the History of her Guiding Life and the three mo- thers each made a presentation to her daughter. Following the Queen, Brownie and Guide's Prayers. Colours were presented by Rev. Romeril and following Colour Party all filed to the Christian Education room where all had the oppor- tunity of speaking to the three honoured Guides and their par- ents.
