While patrolling 13,000 miles, 290 vehicles were checked with 233 drivers being charged and 55 warned. Many of the driv- ers charged were clocked through radar which is now in constant use. Why not assume the radar set is always just around the next corner. Whitby Detachment also in- vestigated 73 General Occurren- ces which included 7 Insecure Premises, 2 Auto Thefts, 2 Break & Enters, and 50 Miscel- laneous Occurrences which in- cluded traffic complaints, liquor offences, and requests for as- sistance. Bicycles need care and atten- tion the same as automobiles do. After supplying your child with a 'bike don't assume he or she will keep it in a safe condition. Help insure your child's safety by periodically giving the bike la check. Loose handlebars or handlegrips could cause your child to lose control of his steer- ing. A loose chain could snag a pantleg or a dangling spoke could easily wrap around the frame and send the rider over the -handlebars.- bolts and lubricate all moving parts. Don't wait for an acci- dent to happen to your child to remind you of your respon- sibility. Why not examine that bike today, you could prevent tomorrow's accident. 'Tighten all |- O.P.P.
