We are pleased to note Mrs. C. Newnham is home from the hospital. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Allen Martyn upon the arrival of their first grand- child, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Nokes (Mildred) of Oakwood. Mrs. Ben Smith and Mrs. William Heayn attended the Trousseau Tea honouring a bride elect, Miss Catherine Clarke of Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. John Lake Brenda and Ralph of Oak- wood were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Les Bea- cock and sons. Mr. Mason who also trav- elled to Regina with the A. Martyns is spending a few days in our village prior to returning to Oshawa. Mrs. Clare Vernon, Cathy and Patti, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vernon and Mrs. M. Crosier attended Sutton's 112th Horse Show on Satur- day. Mr. Ed Mulholland visited Expo for several days last week. Mrs. John Wilson visited Boston and other Eastern points last week. or Mrs. Trotter and Mrs. Man- ning of Toronto were week- end guests of Mrs. Jo Bain. Mr. Michael Mulholland relatives. Mrs. E. Mulvey was a guest at the Millson-Birkett wedd- ing in St. Mathew's Apostle, Anglican Church, Mills. | Mr. and Mrs. Ben Smith band, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Garvey and children from St. John. New Brunswick - Mr. and Mrs. G. Hunter, Miss Linda Hunter and Miss Denise Jeffrey have returned from a few days spent at Expo as have Mr. and Mrs, Jas. Norton and sons while on vacation. Mr. and Mrs. King Card of Merrill, Michigan met the following folk in Florida in the winter and have also been visiting the Bruce Snel- groves and the Grant Hunt- er's. All motored to Peter- boro and eastern points on Monday. -'Mr.--and--Mrs. N. Wilson, Clifford and Bruce spent the week-end with relatives at a cottage at Balsam Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Rensink from Holland accompanied. their son and wife Mr. and Mrs. N. Rensink to Niagara Falls one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kiez- ibrink enjoyed last week motoring in Bancroft, Picton and other eastern areas. Several from our midst en- joyed attending the Centen- nial Rug, Handicraft Exhibit- ion in the Masonic Hall in Port Perry on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. David- son Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. H. Snooks have returned from an enjoyable motor trip to Nova Scotia. - Mr. and Mrs. Hector Hod- gins returned from an inter- esting month in Br. Isles. Their daughter (Marylyn) Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Coulter met ,up and travelled with their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Church Service at the re- gular hour 11:15 on Sunday morning. Do come. The August meeting of the U.C.W. was held at the home of Mrs. Jo Bain with 19 mem- bers and 1 visitor present. The meeting opened by singing hymn 109. Scripture Samuel 2 Chapter 24 follow- ed by prayer by Mrs. Bain. The topic was {Religion at a Price". A poem "If Jesus came to your house" were both given by Mrs. W. Holt- by. The minutes of the last meeting were 'read by Mrs. A. Toombs.- Bake Sale to carry on every Friday which have been quite successful. _ There will be no choir practice during the month of August. Plans were -made to have a bazaar on Sept. 27th. Meeting closed with the theme song and prayer. The September meeting will be held Sept. 7th at the home of Mrs. Toombs. United Church, Toronto. Mr. Mc- Phail was born in Toronto, but has lived in Cannington for the past thirteen y ars. In Cannington he teache. ais- High School, where he is also Vice-principal. ried and has a family. Mr. McPhail is a member of the Cannington Village Council, and serves on other district boards. He ran for election in the federal riding of Victoria (of which most of Ontario Provincial riding is a part) in 1963 and 1965, each time winning a substantial share of the popular vote. CK LB Announcer Dies Water Skiing A popular morning announ- cer at Oshawa' s radio station CKLB, Douglas Crysdale, 28, died Saturday of internal injuries he sustained in a water-skiing accident in the Haliburton area on Friday. Mr. Crysdals was partici- pating in a water-skiing show Friday at Lake Kashagawiga- mog when he hit a diving board.
