Religious holidays are only half over so there is no church news except that workers are busy repairing and re-decorating. Anthor travel bus has made its appearance in our village. It was' driven from Sask. to Montreal by Mr. and Mrs. Thompson. After their Expo visit they spent a short timé with Mr. and Mrs. Jack MacTaggart. Their mother, Mrs. Pearl Thompson of Rosetown, Sask. accompanied them and is staying in the east for awhile with the Mac- Taggarts and Mrs. George Ewen of Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. A. Moon have had their holiday- in Goderich. They returned on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Moon of Toronto and ASSELSTINE - FREY A petty wedding was sol- emnized in St. Joseph's Church, 'Bowmanville, Satur- day, July 8th, 1967 when Mary Magdelene Frey, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Josef Frey of Nestleton became the bride of Alan John Assel- stine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Asselstine, Burketon. The bride, given in marri- age by her father, wore a floor length gown with a lace bodice, a full skirt and built in train of shimmering - organza, all over taffeta. Her headdress was a rhinestone tiara with shoul- der length nylon veil and she carried a boquet of red roses. The maid of honour was 'Miss Mitzi Cezahis, Toronto, and the bridesmaids were Miss Kathleen Beatty, Tor- onto; Miss. Rosi Frey, Nestle- ton; Mrs. Trudy Klien, Tor- onto. 'Flower girl was Miss Suzie Czap of Janetville, and ring bearer was John Frey, Nestleton. Reverend F. K. Malane, Bowmanville, offici- ated. Mr. Ardis McArthur, Toronto, acted as best man and the ushers were Messrs. __Joseph Frey. Nestleton, Doug- las Asselstine, Burketon, on, and Gerald Asselstine, , Ottawa. Mrs. Grose some time in Toronto with her sister, Mrs. Alma Garlick Mr. and Mrs. Roe Rahm and family of Saintfield vis- ited with Mrs. Fishley on Sunday afternoon. ___Mr._Leon-Standish-under------- went surgery in Oshawa hos- pital on Aug. 4th and is do- ing nicely. We are sorry to report that our other hospit- al patient, Mrs. V. Tait is gradually weakening. The land grabber is with us again demanding land for road widening. They probably came down, got water logged and sank. I add that John and Lester both' tried it twice, went 'ars over top, and only got about ten feet and paddled back. Then Lester got dive bom- bed by a red-tailed hawk, our biggest next to eagles! He got to cover, but it scared the living hell - out of him and Lester is a bird ef peace -- at any price! So he sat down with John and prob- ably said "Come, Jet us rea- son together, this is getting to be too damn dangerous -- besides the lady birds are gone -- let us take wing on the morrow" or pheasantese of equivalent eloquence.
