od "2 LIRA Ye Fh Re-Dedication Service At Prospect United Church The re-dedication service at Prospect United Church on Sunday, Nov. 5th, was a very happy. occasion. Several gifts from the for- mer Centre St. Church, 135 ® yrs. old, Oshawa, have been donated to the church, plus enough hardwood to renovate the whole front of the church. The pulpit was from the Fletcher family in memory of their parents, the late Dr. and Mrs. W. P. Fletcher, whose last pastorate was on this circuit, while living re- tired in Oshawa. Three sons, Percy and George of Oshawa. Rev. William of Odessa with stheir wives, and the daughter Blanche, Mrs. D. F. Ayls- worth, and two daughters were all present. The sons assisted pastor Rev. Teskey with the service. Mrs. Ayls- worth preached a very in- spiring sermon. Mrs. Everett Kerr, of Prospect, was or- ganist. The Centennial Choir of Prince Albert School, un- der the direction of Mrs. San- dison and Mrs. Andrews sang "The Evening Hymn". Everyone enjoyed the so- cial hour afterwards, in the basement, when the U.C.W. served sandwiches and cook- ies with tea and coffee. Rev. and Mrs. Minielly of Centen- nial Church, Mr. Jas. Young and daughter of Oshawa, Rev. and Mrs. J. K. Braham of Bobcaygeon, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Diamond of Willow- dale, Mrs. Roy Lick, were present. among many others from near and far. LJ . * There was a re-union of the Dearborne family on Sun- day to attend the special ser- vice -- Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dearborne, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mrs. Ray Dearborne of Belle- ville, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Dearborne of Prince Albert, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bacon of Greenbank, also Mr. and Mrs. Archie Britain and Mr. Wally Dearborne of Oshawa. Centre St. United Church had been the home church of Eugene Dearborne, his parents and grandparents. The U.C.W. will meet in the church on Thursday ev- ening 9th at 8 o'clock. Mrs. Meta Howsam of Port Perry will show her pictures of the Scandinavian countries in Europe. Mr. Holtby (Hope) Turner of Carroll, Man., visited Holt- by relatives on Sunday p.m. and evening. He is with the Manitoba exhibit at the Royal Show, Toronto. Miss Mildred Smith of Ux- bridge visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hervey Painter last week-end. There was a private funeral on Tuesday from Port Perry for the late Miss Alice Smith of Toronto. a sister of Mildred's and the late George Smith, Violet (Mr. George Painter) both of Uxbridge, Herbey of Sunder- land, and Elva (Mrs. G. Faul- knr of Toronto. Mrs. Janet Vernon took Mrs. Prscilla Jones, Mrs. Marion Webster and Mrs. Meta Holtby to the U.C.W. Regional meeting at Black- Desonsa of Oshawa, Mr. and-stock on Oct. 30th. Prospect was well repre- sented at P.P.H.S. Commence- ment. PHONE 985-2243 Refreshment Booth -- Lubrication Bay The regular meeting of the Greenbank Womens Instit- ute was held in Reach Cen- tennial Hall on Oct. 19, with the President, Mrs. H. Phoe- nix presiding. The meeting opemed with the Ode, and the Mary Stewart Collect was repeated in unison. Mrs. Phoenix read a poem on "A Modern Grandmother". The roll was answered by fifteen members. A motion was made to donate $25.00 to The Cen- tennial project of the F.W. I1.O. Central Area. Mrs. F. Phoenix and Mrs. W. Stone are to attend the two-day training school for "Baking with Yeast",on Nov. 16 and 17. It was also decided to have some work done in Greenbank W. I. the kitchen of the Green- bank Centennial Hall. Mrs. Traux gave a report on Agri- culture and Canadian Indus- tries in the form of "Water Resources of the West" and report on Citizenship and Mrs. F. Phoenix gave her Education, and the "Chal- lenge of Adversity". The meeting was then han- ded over to the group in charge and a good program followed with a reading by Mrs. G. Stone. Mrs. Traux gave the topic on the Pro- cessing and storing of Foods. Mrs. F. Phoenix then favour- ed with a humorous poem and Mrs. W. Stone read some ad- vice on Old Fashioned Cures.
